February 8th, 2013 12:16 AM #4312On my way home from casa(our windshield was replaced;left it in casa from feb 6 morning and I got it by feb 7 afternoon) I noticed that the hood was opened so I pulled over and closed it. My question is do they really need to pop open the hood when replacing the windshield? or they did this 'katayan' thing and replaced some if not all of my parts? What/Where should I check? Good thing is that I took a bunch of pictures of everything under the hood before I went to casa and I'm gonna compare it first thing in the morning. I'm not really good in mechanical stuff so thats why I need your help guys. BTW I paid 3k for d/f fee something aka participation fee. Unit is 2012 gls-v. Thanks

February 8th, 2013 01:08 AM #4313sir i think casa forgetting to close the hood is definitely not good, might cause an accident, better inform casa abt this. yung opening of hood, even removal of it completely is likely necessary kasi yung plastic grille below has to be removed among other things like wipers for full access to the windshield seals. try to ask also the casa for ur peacee of mind how they went about the replacement process. re 3k cost i think it's par for the course kc recently had a colleague nagpapalit rin for a ford fiesta car abt 2k participation for a 22k windshield. i don't think casa would risk reputation for katay type ops, what would be the incentive to them? unless you have had very bad experience w their services of course. in any case observe nlang for new/ differences lalu na check for signs that windshield sealing is poor or has leaks and rattles.

February 8th, 2013 01:35 AM #4314i think montero handle on driver side door is also near window top side and the a-pillars ( at least the plastic covers) dont seem to be designed with flat mounting places where a handle could be screwed so I agree with dr.d to jusy have the casa install oem handles.kaso if i understand correctly, your concern is sobra taas pa rin ng position even for that already on the passenger side so i think you have 2 options:
1. just add a loop of a flexible handle on the existing (passenger) and new installed grips (driver) yung parang nasa trains/mrt so it hangs down lower. problem is you have to find some suitable handle that fits securely and will not rattle against the windows. so far naman sakin my 5yr old daughter doesn't seem to find going in and out hard yun lang nga sa pinto humahawak.
2.inspect under the covers first for any wires, clips and seals that might be in the way and if confirmed doable , buy those handles from a toyota casa or aftermarket handles including any mounting hardware and diy yung drilling thru the plastic and metal frame ng a-pillars.

February 8th, 2013 05:36 AM #4316you can try their website they have internet promo they claim is 50% off (parang fila shoes
marketing) but cost is indicated for a whole small car so suggest to email them first. i got mine as i said the 3 shades around but had it done when the unit was bnew and it was 11.5k last year opting out of installing the casa tint freebie (which was 2.5k worth but limited 3m line/shade choice - and had personal experience w/ a reflective 3m on my old ride na nagbabakbak after 7yrs) kaya kinagat ko, kitang kita pa naman pag nagdegrade ung tint since i feel i'll keep the monty longer than 7 yrs e. marami prin sila ibang brands even 3m though i also suggest to ask other shops for best deals.

meron naman ako question, just curious: did the casa transfer your lto sticker and any other sticker on the broken windshield to your new windshield and was the transplant ok? thanks!

Thanks pal. I just need the assist grips to be installed on the sloping pillars both for the driver and the passenger side only. Still on the hunt for it. Of course there would be drilling on the plastic covering and the sloping metal pillar itself with bolts to firmly secure it. Kids and teens doesnt have any problems getting in but oldies? There was a time when my mom at her 80's had a hard time getting in where there isn't a thing for her to hold on and I need to carry and push her on to board.
