I agree with your observation. I also live and work in Mandaluyong where I also see Subaru Foresters just like mine. I believe geography plays a factor in what cars people buy. Subaru is located in EDSA, Greenhills so I expect most of the customers to reside in the Pasig/San Juan/Mandaluyong/Makati/including some parts of QC area.

Hi everyone. I've been thinking about getting a 2010 Lancer EX GT-A, but need a few clarifications. I know it has all the bells and whistles, but I'm not quite sure about the differences between the ones manufactured in Japan and the ones locally assembled. I read a couple of days ago that there was a significant price drop of the GT-A because we no longer had to import them.

Did they take out anything (like chrome accents, leather seats [if it ever had any], or other aesthetic features or ammenities?)

Did they do any facelifting when compared to the previous year's EX?

    Anything else I should know?

    Thanks guys.

whats wrong with this car? its been two years since its introduction and i barely see it on the road. even after it shifted to local assembly and competitive pricing, i still rarely see this car. there must be something that turns off buyers despite its great looks.

It was simply too expensive as compared to other similar vehicles like Subaru Impreza and Ford Focus. Only recently did Mitsubishi offer a bigger discount on the retail price to entice more people to buy the Lancer EX.

Offered only in 2.0L variant (there is a 1.6L version in other countries) which is bad when gas prices are high.

Right car, wrong time. Economic recession makes people not buy new expensive cars. They end up postponing expensive purchases or tend to buy cheaper smaller cars like the Honda Jazz.

Nicely said, ghosthunter. Exactly how I see it, too.

In addition, I look at it from an opposite perspective... the Lancer EX not being so common here (as opposed to, say, the ubiquitous Civic) is what's RIGHT about this car, not WRONG. Well, that only applies to us Lancer EX owners, of course... let's just enjoy that little bit of exclusivity, while it lasts. :D

I saw the local GT-A in the flesh at an exhibit, and doesn't seem to be any different as far as interior and features are concerned, nothing has been removed vs. the Japan CBU. However, of course these new GT-As have slight modifications as advertised:

    1. Ralliart-style fascia.
    2. Ralliart-style taillight color.

Ano pa ba... I'm sure someone will point out if I missed to mention something above.

because of only one engine to choose 2.0L unlike the competitor people thought it gas guzzler though the competitor 2.0L price is lower still its not the initial choice of buyer thier best selling variant are all smaller engine displacement.

Sorry kung confusing yung term na ginamit ko. Sa "mall exhibit" ko nakita, hindi sa isang car show or anything.

Sa Festival Mall yun, merong naka-display dun, both the GLS (not sure baka GLX yun) and GT-A.

Are the EX series made here in the Philippines? This is what I know based on what I read from the newspaper. But today, talked (with a possibly clueless) SA and she said its CBU from Thailand.

    Yes she is clueless. :D

The EX was CBU from Japan. Yung mga available right now, last batch na yun nung CBU. Malapit na daw lumabas yung locally assembled, siguro next month or so. Ang laki ng discount ngayon, akala ko nga local na e... hindi pa rin daw. Swerte yung mga bibili ng last batch CBU nung GT-A, kasi 155K discount, so 1.14M na lang sya, halos pareho nung introductory price nila 2 years ago. Hindi naman daw ibababa ang presyo kapag local na... pero hindi na "discounted" yung 1.14M (for GT-A, as an example) kundi yan na ang standard price.

yikes problem yan if di e-baba yung price sa locally assembled.
dont know how true but talked with an SA sa auto madness yesterday na locally assembled na daw yung naka display, i wont believe kaya he showed me an example sa balc color ng ex iba nga ang shade ng black, explanation daw niya is iba2 daw yung supplier sa japan and dito sa phil. nagmamadali kasi ako kaya didnt bother looking at the seatbelt tag if made in japan or phils.(im not quite sure din if this method is accurate)

Local man o CBU pa rin, given the huge discounts they are giving right now, competitive na rin sa wakas ang GT-A sa direct competition nya (2.0L high-end variants ng Civic, Altis, Focus) and actually lamang pa sya kung i-consider lahat ng features na meron sya na wala ang kalaban.

I don't know if this is the same situation with the GLS and GLX (now that MX and GT are not available). Yung GLS ata ang price ngayon, kahit after discount, is about the same as the MX's initial price here.
