If I was going for the "GTA look", I would have spent the extra P200K and bought the actual GTA and get better "value" that way. Piecing together a "GTA" looking car from bits & pieces would actually cost more and still lack many things like the HID headlights that aim towards where you turn, paddle shifters, etc.
May Adaptive Front Lighting System rin pala ang EX GT-A? :shocked2: I thought sa EVO X lang..

Let's face it, many pinoys are Honda fans not to mention Honda has among the highest resale value here, so the ubiquitous Civic is not surprising. Altis offers a very smooth ride, so it has its own market, plus it's a Toyota and pinoys trust this brand. Impreza... hmm, I don't think there's more Imprezas around... at least not here in Alabang area, there's still more Lancer EX than Subaru. Plus, the Lancer EX has been intermittently out of stock during the transition from Japan CBU to local assembled.

At around my area of work and residence, people look up to Lancer EX as something to be desired, if only it wasn't too expensive compared to the competition. This perception may change this year due to locally assembled units. Also since puro 2.0L lang... we all know how many people stay away the moment they hear 2 liters and above ("malakas sa gas" mentality).

I see more Subaru Imprezas daily than Lancer EX cars where I live and work. That's Makati, Mandaluyong, San Juan, Pasig areas.

The main problem with the Lancer EX is that it was an expensive car if you would compare it with the Corolla 1.8L & Civic 2.0L which were the popular choices at the time when the Lancer EX first came out ... so that alone limited sales to certain persons who would appreciate the car's positive merits better.

Currently, the relative rarity of the Lancer EX does give it a certain appeal for those who want something different from the rest of the common cars on the road.

+1 the Lancer EX is indeed an expensive car compared to its competition (Altis, Civic, Focus, etc.) and less preferred by car buyers for various reasons.

but if you look at it, the extra 275K you shell out for the GT-A variant goes to features that you will neither find in the production models of most other brands nor even the other variants of the EX:

    1. 7-airbag system (i think the bulk of the extra cash goes here. airbags are expensive pieces of kit.)
    2. rockford-fosgate sound system
    3. adaptive front lighting system
    4. fully automatic lighting and wiper systems

so i guess, for some, it will be worth the extra cash.

Other manufacturers should standardize adaptive headlights for HID-equipped vehicles. It's a good way to use that freed-up slot, which would otherwise be taken up by a separate high beam in non-HID configs.

Aw come on! Don't confuse me and Cathy.

Remember, I was choosing between the Subaru Impreza 2.0L sedan, Lancer EX and Focus TDCi-DSG. There was even a thread I started for it a while back.

If I was going to buy a "toy", I would have chosen the GT variant and saved myself a few pennies. That would have gotten me the same extras and a potentially faster car that does away with the limitations of the CVT tranny.

But I am looking for a practical daily driven car and I felt I could save myself P200K+ by doing without the "extras" including the racing-racing look of the body kit.

    * GH

actually the 7 airbags, the RF system, and the light and wiper sensor are exclusive to the GT-A.

anyway, 200k is 200k. that's a lot of money to spend on other more important things. i would have probably done the same thing given the same circumstances.

well, at least your daily driver is better looking than most of the japanese compacts out there.

From what i have read, wheel prices start at P25K and goes up. ROTA brand are good because they are strong in resisting deformation against the local road conditions we have. I made the mistake of buying imported light weight alloy wheels once. Almost everytime I have the wheels checked, one or more needs "alignment" work.

Tires, I have canvassed around P3500 for Triangle (china) brand.

TOYO and Dunlop Sport goes for P6600/piece for 235/40/R18.

Personally I would get a tire brand I trust rather than let the cheap price dictate what I get. It's because the tires are the only four points of the car that grips the road.

At the moment, the only cheap brands I trust to give me excellent tires for little money are Kumho and Federal. Have sampled several tires by other non-mainstream makers and have not been impressed by their performance comparatively.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

saw the Chevy Cruze at ATC and it looks stunning. The interior is really inviting, particularly the dash and seats. lambot ng seats and the side bolsters, i assume, give great support while driving. the lancer ex's seats have less cushion and support, probably because of its sporty design. The top-of-the-line Cruze (only 1.8L), with 6 airbags and all the amenities, is already priced below 1.1M. The current 2010 EX GT-A is already bang-for-the-buck at 1.175M (discounted price of the Jap-made model) but the Cruze is something mitsu should look out for. No idea yet on how much the locally made EX models (to be available in April or May daw) will cost. Hope it will be priced more competitive, i.e., much lower than the CBU Jap models. Sana maganda rin ang quality....

Personally I won't be worried about the Cruze. Half the battle is the brand behind the car and Chevy doesn't really have a rosy appeal to many people. Expensive labor and even more outrageous prices for spare parts.

Sir baka yung EX na sinasabi mong di kasing ganda ang seats (in terms of support or side bolster at least) ay yung MX pababa? Kasi ang GT and GT-A maganda ang side supports.

Yung GT-A pala ngayon na Ralliart ang front design, CBU pa rin pala? Akala ko yan na yung local kaya mas mura na?

    hi all!

any of you guys here roll in a M/T Lancer EX? I'd like to know how does the tranny feel and its FC... grateful for your feedback. I think the GLX variant's a great value for money with its safety features like the airbags and ABS-EBD. Btw are there price adjustments in effect since they are made here in our country?

gud am po. lancer ex fan po here (planning to take driving lessons soon then hopefully buy a gls). tanong ko lang po, di po ba standard ung mga offers ng different distributors ng mitsubishi dito sa pinas? with regards to freebies, promos and sometimes ung price. nakakalito lang kasi especially when you're about to buy na. dunno kung saan ka pupunta to get the best deal or the "real deal". if sa web naman, mostly di sya updated. any comments on these guys?
