Until one day, I visited my casa to check on the Strada again (for the nth time) and I saw that they've got a huge discount on the Lancer EX GLX MT and it ends up cheaper than the Strada at 855k.

Now this car got me confused on my priorities and needs. Main purposes for the car:

    1. 90% of the time I'll be alone travelling to and from the office. My travel distance back and forth is approximately 70 kms and I need something with good km/l consumption and preferred diesel (hence the strada). However, if the EX gets around 9-10 km/L city driving, the cost difference ain't that much (about 1500-2k pesos per month). Fuel economy will play a huge part in my decision.
    2. 10% of the time on occasional road trips out of town. I think the Strada fit's my need for loading much stuff... but again, this is just 10% of the time (debate going through my head)
    3. Maintenance cost: I had feedback that it is cheaper to maintain gasoline engines... Been driving a diesel Xwind for 7 years so I don't have any basis for comparison.
    4. Handling the not so paved roads of the metropolis. Would the EX be good enough to at least be at 30% of strada's capability. I just noticed that the suspensions were nice when I sit. Hindi lumulubog yung shocks when I get into the front seat, unlike other cars i tried on for size.
    5. Less important value adds - ABS and EBD for EX, multi info display. Fog lamps for strada, AUX-in stereo + USB port.

Having a hard time. If I had enough resources, I'd buy both. But given I can only afford one, need your inputs which car to pick. Both are Mitsu's so it should be good whatever way to go.

    Thanks in advance!
Just like to share my FC experience with my Lancer EX GLX. I travel from Meycauayan, Bulacan to SM north EDSA daily via NLEX, travel distance is at 34 km back and forth with less than 30 mins. going to the office and going back home (speed at 120 - 140 km/h). No traffic. 1500 pesos worth of gas is good for two weeks so technically I spent 3000 pesos every month without going somewhere else except home and office. Hope this gives you an idea on the fuel consumption. Thanks!

Parang sign of aging na yan ah

Kudos to your Lancer EX, hindi maganda yung goodbye niya sa'yo. Hehehe

Some of the upgrades will be transferred to the ASX. I plan to disassemble the EX by end of April if no buyers (with a good price) shows up.

Mga sir help naman po, it's about my tire, nagkabukol kasi sa wall side, d naman ako nalulubak. nagpaevaluate ako sa mitsubishi then it was evaluated by yokohama. I know it's bad pero yun nalang naiisip kong way.

Hi EX owners, quick question lang po, how much is the going price for the EX MX (2008) model today? Is 670K a good deal with 45,000km mileage? TIA.

gas savers do not work, so why install a gas saver?

gas savers (example: khaos, uniq, aeronox) can result in engine loss of power, overheat, etc.

buying a gas saver device/gadget is a big waste of money.

if you want to save gas on your EX, learn to drive it better. The fuel economy meter in the dashboard is your friend for this purpose.

    Hi Guys,

I'm planning on getting a GLX. However my parents are pushing me to get the GLS instead (para daw automatic) - they'll shoulder the price difference.

Thing is - i really want a manual (although its ages ago when i drove one). Am I being close-minded if i don't consider the GLS?

More power? basta more appeal!

    Thanks in advance!

    It's really a personal choice of you want a M/T and A/T.

The debate of the pros and cons about M/T and A/T is simply unending but the main point of having the A/T is comfort especially in the constant traffic in Metro Manila. If you don't often drive in Metro Manila, then it might not be as important.

I know how fun it is to drive a car with M/T because I enjoy the simple experience of driving a good car, something that my parents and siblings seem not to be able to appreciate in the same way as I do. But as I got older, I do see the points of having A/T, especially being stuck in crawling traffic for kilometers.

The EX GLS is not so bad but I would prefer the EX MX model because it would have the paddle shifters and rear suspension stabilizer (both items as missing on the GLS). Those two items would make driving the EX better & fun even if you have to compromise for an automatic tranny car.

I've actually driven automatics all my life - but those are my parent's car. I can certainly appreciate the one hand steering wheel, the other yosi approach

I guess i'm viewing it from "driving, in itself, is an experience. you drive to have fun" - to paraphrase Pixar's Cars.

Thanks for the breakdown GH - i'll give MX a thought. If my parents are still willing to shoulder the difference then why not.haha
