Engine type — DOHC 16v, MIVEC, ECI multiple
    Displacement — 1590 cc
    Bore — 75.0 mm
    Stroke — 90.0 mm
    Compression ratio — 11.0:1
    Power — 86 kW (117 PS) at 6000 rpm
    Torque — 154 N·m (114 lb·ft) at 4000 rpm

An all-aluminum engine with about the same power as a 2005 Civic VTi but on a heavier car (and maybe a lower redline)... so I guess it would be better to get the 5-speed manual na lang, tama ba?

117 PS so thats about 115hp.

On the wheel you lose about 20%, so we're looking at the lowest of 92-95whp. Still better than the uberly underpowered Mazda 3.

For those still wanting to buy the Lancer EX 2.0L GLX/GLS/MX ... I suggest placing your reservations now because it will be phased out. Only the GTA will remain to have the 2.0L engine.

The old Civic 1.6 actually has significantly more power at 130ps and with lesser weight. I am wondering if this will be underpowered, especially with the 4AT. Even the Altis makes more power nowadays. Just curious though. Many other markets, Asian ones included have the 140hp 1.8L 4B10 engine for their base spec Lancer. Why don't we have it?

What about the torque of the civic... Torque is more important than HP when you are driving around the city.

Most probably because of the cost constraints that might accompany this 1.8L engine.

Oo nga. I wonder why Mazda can't produce a similarly powered engine at the same displacement. Yung lumang familia naman naka 118hp.
