    If I remember correctly, 13 has always been an unlucky number since it was attributed to the last supper, where it was believed that if 13 people dined together, one of them will die. Friday, on the other hand, was the day Jesus was crucified. So Christianity and folklore mixed so that Friday the 13th was treated as doubly unlucky. Or something like that.
