August 25th, 2004 09:26 AM #5what i know is that dapat lagi kang nasa 1st gear and naka apak ka lagi sa gas. Baha experience? dami! Napasukan yung loob ng car ko, bantut! pinalinis namin agad.

but if you can avoid it, put your car in 1st gear, turn off your aircon and go slow thru the water while avoiding the deeper portions of the road. Adjust your speed to be as fast as the bow wave in front of you (if the water is deep enough to create one).

So to try going thru a flooded road with an automatic:
-turn off aircon
-shift to the lowest gear
-proceed in a steady speed
-if you produced a bow-wave in front of you, go as fast/slow as the wave in front of you.
Always check your brakes after you leave the water.

above knee high ang tubig, grabe lumusong ang kotse ko.
okay naman ang clutch at brakes pero after 2 days, alternator ko naggegenerate ng 19V~22V. Buti pinacheck ko kasi may batt umiilaw sa dashboard ko. kung hindi ko napacheck, luto ang ECU ko at putok sigurado ang mga bulbs ko.

August 25th, 2004 10:23 AM #10Normal na dito yan sa Sampaloc area, kada ulan may mga areas na lubog talaga. Iwasan nyo ang Piy Margal (Instruccion-Blumentritt), Simon (Casanas-Blumentritt). Blumentritt, Calamba (Maceda-Isarog).
As much as possible try to avoid shifting gears while the vehicle is sumberged under water for manual trannys.
Matic trannys have lesser worries since, they don't have clutch openings underneath.Last edited by Ungas; August 25th, 2004 at 10:27 AM.

July 1st, 2016 07:19 PM #11reviving this thread since it's rainy season once again.
My latest baha experience was last year along Osmena Highway. I was already leaving Binondo when it started raining. By the time I got to Taft parts of it were was already flooded and Osmena highway looked like a river. The flood waters were at least gutter deep and worse along Cash and Carry
It was a very scary experience for me.
I just noticed that metro manila floods so easily nowadays. More than a decade ago EDSA Makati was always a road I considered safe. Now even Ayala ave gets flooded. It is so unreal.Last edited by _Cathy_; July 1st, 2016 at 07:22 PM.

At bakit ganyan ang wigo simpleng baha magcheck engine. Pag ganyan sira dapat recall na yan

August 25th, 2004 10:40 AM #16my baha experience, wala sa kotse. nung sa Provident Village kami nag-rent ng bahay. this was 1988. gulat kami bakit ang mura ng rent for a 4 bedroom house. Pag-dating ng sem break, naku nabasag ang dike ng village. 12 feet high ang baha. had to seim out of the house. incredible. yung volks namin lumutang sa loob ng garage, buti hidi tinangay palabas ng bahay

August 25th, 2004 10:44 AM #17Dudes, i read somewhere that you dont have to maintain a high engine speed. The exhaust gases at low rpms (daw) is enough to keep the water out. The intake of course is another matter altogether hehe.
