The Inquirer news article goes on to say:

According to the report of the Quezon City police, Tigson said, Sy was abducted by unidentified suspects in Biak na Bato, Quezon City, at around 9:45 a.m. on Monday.

Witnesses said two men riding a white Toyota Tamaraw FX van parked beside Sy's SUV and then entered the victim's vehicle.
They emerged minutes later carrying an unconscious Sy, witnesses added.

Police later recovered the abandoned RAV 4, with bullet holes and a pool of blood on the floor, at the boundary of Manila and Quezon City.

Just a reminder to everyone to be extra careful and attentive to what's going on around them, particularly when getting on or off their vehicle. If you can, try to park in a public, well-lighted place where there are people nearby whom you could depend on for assistance if the need arises. Have your carkeys ready before you reach your vehicle, and don't be too distracted (e.g. if you're holding too many packages, reading the leaflets that people sometimes stick on your windshield, etc.) that you allow your attention to falter or let your guard down.

This may sound paranoid to some, but I always check the perimeter of my vehicle before climbing aboard to see if anyone is hiding there waiting for a chance to surprise me. Also, before getting aboard I check the vehicles parked to my left and right to see if there are occupants on board who don't seem to be doing anything or are acting suspiciously. Tapos, pagkasakay, lock kaagad ng pinto, at alis kaagad sa parking slot. Don't spend more time in a vulnerable position than you have to.

You don't have to be a millionaire or look Chinese in order to be a candidate for a kidnapping. Stay safe, peeps.
