It's often hard to find a good reason to go to the mall because so many things can be done cheaper.

Want to watch a movie? True, the theaters have the latest movies first and it's one of the main reasons for going to a mall here. But, many people choose to wait a short bit and watch them on cable or satellite Pay Per View. I do that occasionally and just record straight from DirectTV to my pc.

Shopping? Games and pc parts I can order cheaper on the internet. Clothes? My wife prefers Target or Walmart. Electronics? Most electronic stores here are outside of malls.

Restaurants? We do go to places like Olive Garden, Red Lobster, or Texas Outback. But, they're all normally outside the main mall area.

It's really hard to find anything in the mall that can't be found elsewhere and cheaper.

Add: Just about the only reason I go to a mall is to watch a movie or go to Spencers so I can buy my wife a dirty gift.

Whoops. There's another reason for going to the mall...... Victoria's Secret. Of course, not when my daughter's tagging along.

In the Philippines, mall = park. It's where you go where you have nothing to do. Actual parks are too hot to "tambay" in, so people go to the malls.

Anyway, I don't care how many big malls we have on the list. I hate big malls. I'm not much of a shopper, when I go to the mall because I want to buy something it takes me no more than an hour or so.

My daughter says the same everytime we try to buy her a dress (anything with no pant legs).

Anyway, going to the mall is normally a Sunday thing for us. Right after morning Mass, we head out to the nearest mall and eat at the Food Court. If there's a good movie, we might watch.

It's mostly my wife and daughter who likes going inside the mall. Me, I'm happy to go inside Best Buy only, look at all the pc parts/electronics, and then go home. Good thing the malls here aren't gigantic. That's less time I have to spend tagging along behind my wife and carrying her shopping bags.

    oist mga OT!!

just don't do what my idiot buddy did - his girlfriend (who's also a friend of mine) told me that she was 'modeling' :naughty2: some VS lingerie for him one night when he blurted out "why does it look different on Adriana Lima?" :twak:

    BTTT:

i'd like to see some comparative sales figures of the shops in Megamall. that might give you an idea of the consumption/spending power/economic prosperity of the Philippines right now (the retail industry being a good bellwether of people's disposable income, which indicates their wealth). it very well might be that you guys are right - people go to malls in the RP to tambay, and not necessarily to spend.
