why does everybody call everybody "ate & kuya"?

I call everyone (not elderly, pag elderly sir, maam na tawag ko) dude i sometimes use dudette to girls pero mostly dude pa rin. they have no weird reaction whatsoever :D

there are times girls would say "don't call me dood"

meron naman "what did you just call me?!" hehe
