Exactly, noone would cower in fear in broad daylight, because the vast visibility leaves nothing to the imagination.

In contrast, the dark night makes it hard to see, and shadows can be misleading. Since your visual cognition is impaired, you're often left to imagine what could be lurking in the darkness.

Since I have poor imagination, I just ground myself on reality and what my senses can recognize, which is why I'm probably not the best ghost hunting buddy out there.
