Pardon my ignorance, but why are koi so expensive? Kinakain ba yan, pang-decorate ng aquarium, good luck charm? What?

there's this place at Cartimar that specializes in koi. forgot the name though. naka pinakalikod sa daan sya, sa bandang salt water fish. dunno about the quality of their koi, pero ang ganda ng showroom nya -- i.e. indoor ponds

I think ang pangalan ng place na yan is Kois and Pond, once ng pumasok kami dyan ng son ko may mga kois sila na halos 4 feet long grabe sa laki, wasnt aware before na kois could grow that big

....im no expert on kois but the really expensive ones are big and at least 20yrs. old. i think its for good fortune ata ang pag-alaga nyan. the only koi i was able to afford is the koi tat on my right arm.

....sabi nila sa pond lang daw na-aappreciate yan, not in an aquarium.

yah, definitely sa pond yan; parang mas maganda kasi sya tignan sa top view kesa side.

parang me nagbanggit sa akin na noong araw e kinakain daw ung koi...pero for special occassions lang, hindi ung tipong tilapia o bangus B)

Does anyone have any idea how much kois cost? Also, is it expensive to build and maintain a fish pond? I saw in a blog pictures of koi fish in a pond and it looks really nice

sa koi village sa magallanes ako before bumibili, 100.00-250k price range. medyo mahirap magmaintain, weekly kelangan linisin. nagstop na ko magalaga kasi last year my brother accidentally turned off the aerator nung gabi. the following day more than 60 pieces ang patay umayaw na ko simula noon. pero masarap magalaga ng koi, wag lang mapapakialaman ng iba
