Sayang malayo ako sa beaches but i really am enamoured with fishing. I used to fish a lot in my younger days using the donuts of the local fishermen.

Everytime i go phuket i go trolling but i find it a waste of money as its on a 'lottery' basis with other tourists as to whom gets to land the fish. And that place is trolled out. I did catch a fairly nice dorado once and several tuna.

When El Nido was still relatively undiscovered 2 decades ago...me and my dad would go trolling. Easiest fishing of my entire life. Throw the hooks overboard. Wait a few minutes and then catch multiple (yes multiple) fat tunas! Those days are gone...the tuna are all fished out.


But id like to try rod fishing.

tho may pinupuntahan kami sa san leonardo nueva ecija. ~1 1/2 hrs drive away pa. kaso nasa states na yun kapatid ko na may kakilala sa san leonardo para mag stay for awhile bago magpunta sa dam.

Black to greenish color. Spiny yes, defense mechanism nila fins. The 10th one stung me. They didn't buy the snail bait, the shrimp, yes they love the shrimp

worms talaga gusto nila. usually meron sa ilalim ng mga pots ng mga halaman na nakatayo sa lupa. angatin mo lang yung pots tapos hukay ka lang.
pag wala, sa mga moist soil malapit sa canals/drainage systems.

btw, nakabili ka na ng rod mo?

I remember before, nagfishing kami ng father ko bata pa ako sa isang fish pond ng tilapia... worms yung bait namin, kami talaga bumubungkal sa lupa... luckily yung fish pond na yun malalaki worms nila sa lupa and hindi mahirap humanap... sarap na sarap ang mga tilapia nun... mga pinky size sa finger yung worms na nahuhukay namin...

Tsaka nalaman ko dun na yung dumi ng baboy papunta sa pond para feed ng tilapia... hahaha!!!
Kasi siguro feeds din yung pinapakain nila sa baboy... hehehe...

Style dun kung ano huli mo titimbangin ng may ari ng pond para bayaran... pay what you catched... baon lang kami ng rice tapos ihaw yung fresh tilapia... gandang bonding!

Sir benchman, it's a 900 peso starter rod and reel muna. Haha. Amateur muna hehe. It gets the job done. Nabili ko sa royal duty free sa subic.

Me nakita akong mga fishing rods sa HMR a few years back. Can't remember the prices. Then again i don't remember it selling any other fishing supplies, so you might hit a dead end.


There's also this Anglers Fishing Supply at Felimarc Pet Center...along Taft Ave., papuntang Cartimar.

That's why I stopped eating Tilapia. It's a "dirty" fish because it eats anything. Favorite ko Tanigue at Lapu lapu. Basta ayoko ng isdang tabang.
