Anytime is good as long as you have enough budget to buy the car and money leftover to fix it up (either mods or repair whatever it wrong with the car).

I am assuming the toy car would be a used car with aftermarket potential. Previously modified cars can be a cheaper way to get to what you want as long as you know what was already done to the car and if it is compatible to your car build goals.

If you plan to have loads of fun driving it in the summer season, then plan to buy your toy car many months BEFORE the season you will really want to be driving it so you will have ample time to sort out the car and get to know it's personality (what it likes and does not like).

I bought what I considered my toy car (a suzuki jimny) when I was having a personal crisis. Used it to drive alone up the mountains, out to sea, somewhere away from city life to contemplate on my status and my purpose. There were times I thought I won't be coming back home and just drive up to where the car and the gas would take me. Visited old churches, watched the laid-back life in the province and one day when I reached home, I quit my old job, relocated my family and found a better job in the city. Now my wife is driving my reliable 4x4 toy car while I am contented using a family car. My point is, get a toy car if you can afford one but make sure it is practical enough for you might have a need for it in the future.

    Disposable Income

When you have that then a toy car is definitely attainable

Im thinking the 3rd gen Jazz as my toy car whenever it comes out. Not too expensive but still a lot of good fun! And I wont have to break the bank for it. Though ideally I wouldve wanted something with more horses underneath....

Turbocharge a manual 2nd gen 1.3. Speedlab had 165 whp out of one. Secondhand Jazz 1.3 MT at about 400k. Turbo and ancilliaries for maybe 180k (add water injection for a high boost mode... maybe 185 whp). Add suspension work, wheels and tires... say 800k all in for a Jazz with the pace and cornering ability of a Type R....

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

Best time to buy a toy car? If you have money after paying the mortgage, car payments, insurance, education, food, utilities, clothing, entertainment, bills including credit cards, house maintenance, car maintenance, retirement plans, college plans for the kids, other family obligations, vacation expenses, savings, etc.... then, that would be the perfect time to buy a toy car.

Been browsing ft86 forums lately and looking into the member's journals and build thread.
That's all I can do for now.

WIfey saw what i'm browsing and told me "after naten magmortgage pwede ka na bumili nyan"

Now, I see a toy car in the horizon 3-4years from now.

i said the same thing before i got married, now every time i have to buy something expensive kelangan na ng approval ni misis.:bwahaha: sa wife ko kasi syempre sinisigurado lang niya na kaya talaga namin bumili ng mga mahal na bagay that's why i ask her permission first, pag kaya naman talaga di ko naman na siya kelangan pilitin. kaya ok lang sa akin pa alam sa kanya since out of respect na lang din.

meron mga nag bebenta ng 86/brz ng pa lugi and very fresh pa. yon yung mga bumili dahil lang sikat kasi, di tumitingin ng specs at kung ano kaya gawin ng kotse. kala nila sobra bilis ng 86/brz kaya pag bili nila disappointed sila di nila alam di naman ginawa yung 86/brz for it's power.:bwahaha:

But you dont need to get hitched, as you see my gf of 3 yrs. sinama ko last year sa autoline para sa mods ng walang kwenta kong XT and i spend close to 200k wala akong narinig na comment. And just the same sinama niya ko last april sa Hk, bumili siya ng balenciaga wala akong comment, di rin naman kasi nagtanong.

Siguro trust is the magic word.

    Sorry if na OT.

That's because separate pa finances nyo.

Drag racing dito at doon legal man or illegal.

Right you are. I've noticed a few years back that I do have some extra moolah to play around with. Usually it goes to the kids gadgets or travelling with the whole family or the once in a while LV for the Mrs. (I got to keep her happy).

Then I stopped and though about what I have bought for myself. Nothing!!

So I plunged and bought a toy car for me to play with. Nothing ostentatious and no more than 100K, as I know I need to spend double that to make it running better.

    Here it was before:

I had it stripped to metal and made some body work and re-paint. Hopefully within 2 weeks, it would be out.

I don't want to wait too long to buy one. I know I can afford it but being able to justify it is another matter . My wife wants everything put in real estate and travel. I don't mind the real estate but that's a different expense league altogether . Seems no toy car for me in the near future. Will propbably get another family car like the LC200 . I can't do drifts in that truck............

When is the right time to buy a 'toy car' ?
