    the router basically fools your isp into thinking that only a single computer is connected...since it will give the computers an internal ip addresses and the one that's visible to the internet is your public ip (the one provided by your isp), so the function of the router is to route infos. from outside to those internal ip address...also called NAT, serves as your hardware firewall. =)

    question ulit, ok lng naman kung ibang brand ng lan card bilin ko para dun sa addtional connection sa computer 2 ryt? what brand magandang bilin sa router at ano dapat specs ang hanapin ko? computer ko kc with dsl line e nasa ground flr, ung pangalawang computer nasa 2nd floor so pano setup?

    on your first question, ok lang ibang brand ng lan card ang bilihin. since the only job of the lancard is to have your computer connected to the network, ok lang maski anong brand yan, as long as it is compatible (which in any case, it should be, unless you buy a lancard for an AS400 and you will install it in your PC... )

    second question, there are lots of routers available in the market today. recommended brands are CISCO, LinkSys, 3COM.

    for price reference, try to visit Villman (http://www.villman.com.ph), although mas mahal ang price nila kesa sa ibang retailers/outlets, somehow you can get some idea how each one costs.
