My laptop is 4 years old. Sure enough, the battery has started its decline.
It used to get almost 7 hours on its battery with normal web surfing and light MS Office use. Now? Who knows? It's saying it has 3h57m left after 30 minutes has elapsed.
Oops. Maybe I should've turned off the backlit keys first.
Now, it's saying it has 5h28m.
It's not really a big deal because apart from 3 previous road trips, the laptop has spent its time plugged in.
Whatever. I'm not a big fan of non-user replaceable batteries.
Perhaps, I spoke too soon about my laptop battery deteriorating. It's been 3 hours and the battery is still at 80%, even though it entered sleep mode at some point. If the battery was bad, it would still drain.
Just readying the laptop for another summer road trip....adding games and videos.

ours (HP, dell, lenovo) last a very long time.
many times, we simply decide to retire them, even if they still work fine, dahil na-iwanan na ng panahon. the newer ones simply have more goodies that the older ones simply could not do.
Sounds like my earlier laptops. My current one is a 2013 14" ASUS G46VW with an i5 3230m and dual video (Nvidia GTX 660m and Intel HD 4000). I get more or less, 7 hours when using the Intel graphics.
The batteries of my previous laptops (plus my netbook) started to go bad at the 4-year mark. I hope my G46VW doesn't have that curse. ;)
It should if the laptop had user-replaceable batteries. But, if you noticed most new laptops, they have non-user replaceable batteries inside the laptop, not merely underneath. Although I'm still quite capable of assembling a desktop PC, my hands don't quite have the finesse for handling the tiny and sometimes, flimsy fittings inside a laptop. I know when I'm beat and it's time to let someone else handle it.![]()
I've seen YT videos of assembling back an ASUS G46VW. Once I have a new gaming laptop, then I'll think about taking apart my old one.
