If you think about it, Looney Tunes, and more recently, animated films from DreamWorks contain a lot references/jokes that kids would not get nor appreciate. :-D

the old popeye TV cartoons of the 50s and early 60s, were full of political innuendoes, being passed off as jokes.
i am recognizing them only now...

Yes, and it sums up JM's quote above.

Victor Frankl's book "Man's Search for Meaning" (where i got those lines) isn't really about love. this is a good piece to read this time of the year--

You can try Mang Julian's lechon in San Pedro, located along the old hi way.
This in reference to the other peep who was asking about lechon.
No single affiliation to the owner and or anybody from said store. Merely personal experience buying lechon from them, thus yours might be different. Hope this helps.

P1,000 worth of Shell V Nitro Power (Premium) Gasoline - almost 28 liters
P1,000 worth of Shell Regular Diesel Fuel - almost 48 liters

[Thanks bro.jut for the insight on the fuel variants]

    Big big difference!

I don't know why the wife decided to cook lamb chops for Christmas if she's (the kids too) not used to it. She should've stuck with the regular Christmas ham.

I'm used to it because I lived a long time in northern Nevada where sheep herding is common. But, I never told the wife that.

Maybe she was just curious. Now she knows. I don't think she'll be cooking lamb chops again

I don't mind. I've eaten goat meat and dog meat when I visited the Philippines. I've also eaten (black-tail) deer meat when I visited my relatives up in northern Nevada.

    I suppose I'll eat anything when I'm dead-a** drunk.

i'm thinking of this letter now--

    Executive Mansion,
    Washington, Nov. 21, 1864.

    Dear Madam,

I have been shown in the files of the War Department a statement of the Adjutant General of Massachusetts that you are the mother of five sons who have died gloriously on the field of battle.

I feel how weak and fruitless must be any word of mine which should attempt to beguile you from the grief of a loss so overwhelming. But I cannot refrain from tendering you the consolation that may be found in the thanks of the Republic they died to save.

I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom.

    Yours, very sincerely and respectfully,

    A. Lincoln
