Something's fishy. Maybe the reason they say they're powerless is because it might open a can of worms if they pursue a case.

Truth is, everyone is in the dark here.

Just goes to show that we cannot trust the govt.

Agree with you, sir. We cannot trust the government, ever. Who ever's in power. That's why I oppose the National ID system. It's another stupid idea meant to compromise whatever little freedom we have left.

Going back to the passport data brouhaha, Locsin named (on twitter) the contractor as Oberthur. This was the French company hired by BSP in 2008 to print passports during GMA's time. And yet, Locsin also blames the Aquino admin as part of the mess when it was the Aquino admin who terminated Oberthur's contract when it failed to meet supply requirements . I wonder where all this is heading. Curiouser and curiouser.

Those who have not renewed in 2014 and below are the ones affected. Perhaps, this incident happened already few years back and they are trying to stir up/revive it for something.
    Election is coming up.

    i have a question.
why do we have to have these passports manufactured abroad?
why not do it here? do we trust the furriners and we do not trust our own?
what is the national printing office doing?

That’s the problem with government agencies. They like to work with various vendor and they entrust to the vendor the system for which they should own and maintain.

Parang sa NBI ckeerance lang yan, paiba iba yung sistema kasi iba iba yung provider.

It's all very messy and all very fishy. Oberthur was terminated by Aquino admin in 2012. This new admin came into power 4 years later. 3 years into our beloved President's term of office and the people at the DFA "discover" that Oberthur ran away with Phil. passport data 7 years piror? Best and brightest at work, ladies and gentlemen. I am appalled, to say the least. If heads don't roll, you know that "change is coming" was really "changescamming".
