Different families will have different ways to discipline/UNdiscipline their kids.

I'd like to believe me and my siblings turned out to be responsible and disciplined adults naman.

I was also raised that way, pag nanlaki na mata ng Dad ko, without even saying a word, nananahimik na ko. I had punishment as a child - face the wall, stand in the corner, spanking but I LOVE my Dad more than my life. And I thank him for teaching me to respect authority, and I think that it why my bosses like me LOL!

in refined, polite societies it reflects badly on parents when their children don't behave in public and don't have manners including table manners

so syempre the parents discipline/train their kids good behavior, good manners (saying thank you and please etc), proper table manners etc coz they don't want people to say things about them (image is very important in such societies)

but in less refined, lower socio-economic levels, there's no such thing

    so kids behave like kids
I remember this child in the grocery, parents asked him to ask the staff where a certain item is (forgot na), kid was probably 7 or 8, walked up to the staff and said excuse me, sir, where can I find?

Those are the types of children I like HAHAHA!

Respect to authority, respect to elders, respect sa law... Those are values our parents instill in us when we were still kids.

And sabi nila, your control over your kids and their values, hanggang 7 years old lang. Beyond that, they're on their own. Kaya very important yung learning years natin. How we act today as adults is a product of how we were raised and treated during the learning years from 0-7.

I remember the first time I decided to spank my kids. I used the belt on them but I didn't know how hard to hit them. Those little devils ended up rolling on the floor laughing.[emoji38]

Baby boomers parents use spanking as a form of discipline. Their parents before them as well. Our generation, (gen X) doesn’t seem to spank their kids anymore. Well there maybe some who still do but most dont do it. Just my observation

If understood correctly, the guy spoke loudly ... He did not yell at the mother ... Agree that children should act properly in public and that parents are responsible for their behavior ...

Regarding spanking ... Hit only once but hit hard ...
