I just don't get why people, mostly westerners, prefer that the people preparing and cooking their foods to wear gloves. Using bare hands and washing it often is more hygienic than a gloves the cook used for hours.

Pag ako nagluluto ang dalas ko mag hugas ng kamay, if my hands feel dirty I wash it, pag naka gloves, how many times do they change it sa pagluluto?

if cooking in the privacy of your home, hands-on is fine, and personally, i prefer it. "better feel".
but if there is an audience, i.e., restorans atbp, the presence of gloves gives the external assurance of good hygiene practices.
even if one swears he boils his hands every 30 minutes, seeing the gloves still gives the better assurance.
