My dad died when he was also 54, 1 year na lang mag-retire na sana. Life is indeed short so carpe diem.

Yeah, i remember your story about your dad. At least with mine, we still had a short time to say our goodbyes. Re. the age (54), i always remember my Chinese friends telling me to be careful with some ages that sum up to 9 (or something like that). Anyone can shed light on this?

I believe in this kasi tumatawid ka daw ng decade. 39, 49, 59, 69 or sum 45, 54, 63, 72 or 81 etc. My Mom was 69 when she almost died. Thank god for prayers and her good doctors eh she made it. Basta sabi sakin ifwd mo yung age mo eg if you are 39 tell people 40 ka na. When my lola was 79 I told her when people ask her age say 80. She's 86 now. Mom ko hindi nakinig when she was 69, nag 50/50 tuloy just after her bday

Yan ang masarap sabihin sa mga politiko....

Are there practices done to counter this? Some say when your age is asked, you just say you're a year older.

Actually, when somebody tells us his/her age....

We would tell him/her,- "You don't look your age... You look like a 'age less 1 year' year old man/woman"....

And some also celebrate based on the date of conception right? Ganyan yung isang senior officer namin na Chinese when they celebrated the 100th b-day of his dad.
