    Food for thought
Olympics: How much athletes from 12 countries earn for winning medals
Singapore gives a whopping $737k while the US rewards a gold with $37,500. But US Olympians are professionals & earn a lot more in their careers.

Why is it that pro boxer trains for 2 to 3 months only before upcoming fight compared with amateur boxer who trains for 4yrs to prepare for olympics.

Tournament style kasi ang olympics where you engage in multiple matches in 9-10 days.
Professional boxing naman is 2 matches in a year.

nations may not simply send their top boxers to the olympics.
the boxers must earn their right to participate in the olympics.
this right is earned thru their participation record in the various national and international events as dictated by the rules.
    hence the boxers' seeming-never-ending fights.
    as jamba above said, "tournament-style".
the organizers have to resort to this, so that there would not be too many boxers in the Games.

    the weightlifting rules are similar.
hidilyn diaz had to show her mettle in several international events, to qualify for the olympics.

    the same with basketball.
only champions of their respective international zones, may participate in the olympics.

professional boxers, however, must satisfy only their governing bodies' required schedule, i.e., how soon they should defend their title from the last bout.
non-titleholders are not required to fight at all, if they do not want to.
have we noticed? professional boxers get to choose their opponents with only the barest of guidelines, i.e., "what's your weight?"

they aren't even training for just the olympics. They have to win alot of tournaments prior qualifying for the olympics. there's the regionals, nationals, SEA games, Asian games, etc., where they can get points to qualify.

i am thinking about, "the good teacher".

behind his back, the students would say that he wasn't a good teacher.
asked why, the students would say, "because we know the answers to all his questions in the exams! he couldn't ask a question we can not answer."
    "really! and how is that?"
"because we know how to think things out."
"really! and who taught you how to do that?"
    "him..."

    heh heh.

Imparting knowledge is a skill, but the students aren't impressed maybe the teacher haven't gained their affinity.

I once thought of "teaching" but evolving technology was more interesting.

I did part-time before as a means of extra money back in my college days. I did home-service tutorial classes and structured ones in review centers. My clients for home service are mainly from referrals while for review centers is mostly focused on helping high school kids prepare for college application exams.

Bihira kasi tutors for higher Math subjects (Geometry, Trigonometry, Analytic Geometry, Differential and Integral Calculus) and Physics. Back then, I am happy to get like 300 per hour.

I help my daughter once in a while. She complains a lot as she finds me too methodical with my means.

hindi ba pro boxers are amateur boxers before?

napagdaanan na nila ung years of training before they turned pro

so it only takes a couple of months for them to reach fighting condition para sa pro fight
