most laymen think the PCR is a yes-or-no test.
but experts, i.e., the people who use them, know that to be able to decide between yes and no, they first have to trouble-shoot each and every test result.
someones above already mentioned them. the amplification cycle thing, the thoroughness of the swab, virus load, handling issues, etc.
PCR has been in use since the 80s, detecting various molecules and viruses like TB.
it is only now that the layman got to learn about it.
PCR is a procedure. ini-iba lang ang bala (reagents), depending on what we want it to detect.

like PCR is too sensitive you end up declaring perfectly heathy people sick

i get your point Sir Trav

La tayo magagawa we now live under this medical/scientific "tyranny" where a perfectly healthy you can be forced to isolate coz they detected some viral RNA in your nose/throat
Yeah, resigned to what you're saying, sir. The good thing about the sampling I shared was both had happy endings. They're now in places where access to vaccines isn't like here. So blessed![emoji120]

In one of the places I go to, a whole department was tested because one of them showed symptoms. Nag positive sa rt-pcr along with 25 others. Since they will be forced to quarantine, one of them contested the pcr result using the results of an antibody test. Nag negative. So now, it’s adding to the confusion in that company. Pero, as I heard, the pcr result stood.

It's understood that unless there'll be a more foolproof detection method, RT PCR will govern over any other current COVID19 test out there.

last year after the Mar-Apr-May lockdown as companies resumed work madami gumamit ng rapid antibody test to screen employees

madami nag positive sa antibody then pina-swab nag negative naman

kaya nasira ang image ang rapid antibody test

dami nagalit sa rapid test na yan coz it caused anxiety/stress

di afford ng companies ipa-PCR lahat ng employees

and what good is a negative PCR test? it only tells you wala ka virus at the time of the swab

pano pag nahawa after the swab? araw araw swab

kung gusto ng companies sigurado wala virus ang pumapasok na employees they should test their employees at the entrance of the building everyday (some kind of test that's as accurate as PCR but delivers result in a few minutes)

I consulted a pulmonologist na online. Same sila ni Dr Cutie and my Dr Uncle in the US na give biogesic only for 38 and up. She said to take a swab if in 3 days she still has temperature above 37.5 We were only prescribed betadine throat spray, biogesic and exflem

    oh! an array!
if it does what is advertised,
it is bound to be costly, especially if it is paid from out-of-pocket. my un-supported guesstimate is in the realm of 15K.
but it's not an issue in countries where medicare pays for much of the health care of its members.

locally, "when we order tests, we invariably find out that some tests could not be done, because of lack of funds or lack of facility."
in richer countries, we order smorgasboard, and the results are on our tables the next morning.
    "medicare takes care of everything."

Minsan naiisip ko pinaparusahan ba ko pero hindi ko alam bakit. I am not a saint pero hindi rin naman ako masamang tao. All I ask is good health for my family tapos sumabay pa na wala na sa si Dr Cutie and just 3 weeks after my second Mom gets sick.

I got a little relief this morning because the 2 doctors I consulted told me that it's only a fever if it's 38. Kahapon below 37.5 na second Mom ko WITHOUT medicines. Her highest is 37.8 on Monday night when I first noticed her voice was bad, tapos ngayon nag 38 bigla. I feel like having a nervous breakdown na. I am so exhausted kasi yung second Mom ko parang bata. She will NOT follow instructions unless bantayan mo. Exposed na exposed na ko kasi she can't even take her temperature properly. I have to give her medicines kahit sa water she won't even finish 1.5L e ang sabi 3 L so every 30 mins I have to go to her room and watch her finish a cup of water. I have to watch her do her throat spray. Ang hirap kasi in NORMAL times dapat na blood works at chest xray na siya.
