This is getting out of hand. Wala naman death threat yan, the guy just gave his opinion.

I’m asking if it’s fair, dude.

    You’re obviously anti-duterte.

So, just give it a shot, meant it, so that we’d know it is bawal or not.

    You have balls am sure.

So I'm about to lose my job, ano ng silbi ko? What am I supposed to do in life? Also, if I did not have my family with me pupulutin talaga ako sa kangkungan because I have no passive income! I don't wanna end up like my cousins na pati anak nila Lola ko pa nagpapa aral. I still can't understand why I have to lose the job that I love so much. It was the only good thing going in my life

Tapos si crush, why is he encouraging me to get that assignment abroad. He does not see a future with me ata. I hope I am wrong.

I've said bad words against the president before and most specially about his minions on FB, not arrested yet though.

I think it's fair given the very public position that they are in and of course some of these utterances are usually brought about by emotions. Understandable imho the same way that pro-Duterte uses foul language againts the critics.

Can they file a case against you? Obviously yes, but it's more of harrasment imho. I am no lawyer or judge but those kind of utterances in my belief is not in the same league as giving bounty for someones head.

Again, hassle na makasuhan ka pa, the gov't can do that, pero I don't think you'll be criminally liable. The explanation below I believe is what will exculpate the salesman in the end. Just my 2 cents.

The Constitution sets a high bar for libel cases by a “public official” or “public figure.” The latter “enjoys great fame or notoriety,” “has thrust himself into public view,” or has become involved “in an issue of public interest.” Philippine public figure doctrine became even more liberal than American doctrine after it adopted two supposedly mutually exclusive American doctrines.

Under the classic reasoning from the golden age of newspapers, public officials and public figures have less need of the protection of libel laws because they have greater access to the media. Our President can instantly appear on national television to refute anything from criticisms of his policies to rumors of who he is currently dating. The constitutional preference is for speech to be met with more speech, not arrest warrants. Further classic reasoning holds that free speech needs “breathing space” as “erroneous statement is inevitable in free debate.”

Kumbaga, if you run for public office you're expected to have a thick skin. hehe

If not, like in basketball parlance, if you don't want to get physical, play chess.

Maybe, the authorities may have overreacted.

The other guy said his account was hacked, and he could not have possibly raised such amount.

Then if they overreacted, I hope the salesman has a good lawyer that could ask for civil indemnity for malicious filing of a case hehe.

I don't buy the hacked account theory, he could have readily retracted it and issued an apology ASAP.

What amount? The salesman isn't the one who offered a bounty, he just posted some allegations against bonggo and called the president crazy and stupid.

I’m referring to the link I posted (not yours) about a guy in Aklan and a gal in Cebu offering 75M and 100M. The gal said that her account was hacked. Unemployed, she might not have the wherewithal to give the offered amount.
