I have a friend that did just that, island living and "worked" as a scuba instructor, but then he never really had a real job in his entire life. Prior to that he owned an art gallery (in his Dad's building) then before that he managed a lab (which again is his Dad's lol)

Pero tama ka, that guy doesn't really need a job in the first place. He could live off of rent income. Kilala mo to, yung nakwento ko na car accident.

Trip to gilmore can probably bring to life the broken desktop.

Picked up a motherboard for a 4th gen intel for <php 1500.

Laptop with faulty screen can also probably be repaired (panel replacement) for <3k

Both will be good as (better than) new with a new SSD.

Thanks for the info. Kala ko mahal yung screen replacement. Yung desktop actually yung power supply lang problem. I can probably buy 1 and replace it myself but I haven't tinker a CPU in years na. Maybe I'll try again see if it's just like riding a bike again.

That is the goal. Or i can buy a plot there and rent it out. Yun nalang income ko. 🤣

But yeah, the life.

- Surf sa umaga
- go to your day job
- surf sa hapon/fish your ulam for dinner
- sleep
- repeat until Friday

If the wife returned to the Philippines to co-manage her family's assets, I'd be a beach bum. What else am I going to do over there? Apart from being a beach (or swimming pool) bum, I might set up a weather station somewhere as a hobby.

Not when we still have a kid in K-12 school. My wife wanted her to taste school in the PH. After what I went through when I was a kid? I said no. We'll wait until she's in college. Then the wife and I can travel to the PH more.

My first year in the PH was pretty traumatic. It was the Marcos Martial Law era. I wasn't happy.
