Eating out is much more expensive out there. Did you go out to see Taste of Chicago? It's an annual summer fare in downtown Chicago and it showcases a bunch of different food.
I suggest that you make great use of the extended sunlight hours out there. Go drive out to Wisconsin, Minnesota, Indiana, and southern Michigan. Heck, if you can stand driving for a long time (13 hours), you can go see New York. Another 3 hours or so, it's Washington DC already.

You can use your PH driver's license in Illinois even for a year. What we do before is just get a rental and go out to drive to other states. At least, if you encounter a problem on the road, the rental company can pick up the broken car and replace it.
If you do find yourself driving in Wisconsin, don't go over 70mph on the interstates or else you'll get a ticket.

Nope, that's what we thought before until we ask the folks in DMV. I used to work for a company who sends a lot of people within the midwest area and for those staying within 6 months, we just tell them to use their PH license when driving a rental.
Mas madali pa mag drive dyan kaysa dito sa 'Pinas. IL is a bit loose on speed enforcement. Most folks would do 75mph on 65mph interstate and the state troopers don't mind at all, even if you're doing 80mph.

Oh!!! Thanks for the info. I still plan to take the test, sana pumasa.
I do LOVE driving here. No traffic and everyone is so polite, pag nag signal ka pag bibigyan ka talaga. And they do the full stop talaga when the sign says so, hindi rolling stop.
PLUS THE PARKING. so much slots and I can park paharap haha

If you have a valid SSN, then go get yourself an IL driver's license. Madali lang yung road test basta follow ka lang sa traffic signs at instructions nung examiner. Do the road test before the fall season as it gets to be rainy and wet.
In our two-week vacation last May, I think I logged around 2400 miles driving in the Southeast area (Georgia-Alabama-Louisiana-Florida) and SanFo area. The US is best enjoyed thru road trips.

My SSN is taking so long. I followed up today and they made me request for a new one. I need to study for the written exam, I don't want to fail hehe
