GoreTex is still the best in terms of cold resistance right Master E?
If I may add, please don't forget to get thermal underwear, especially socks while you're at it Mr. Big. Gloves also and a good balaclava for your head.
Your extremities will be the first to feel the cold when it really hits you.
This global warming though, one hardly needs them anymore here in Da Pilipins. I miss those days when we would need to do layering just to go to sleep. Ngayon wala na, kahit naka aircon ka pa, halos wala ng damit pag matulog.

May 10th, 2019 09:28 AM #25432Tama! Columbia has Omni-heat. Thermal na pwede mo pa i-layer. Problem lang, compared to Uniqlo is the price. Yun advantage ng Uniqlo. Ang mura.but havent tried those. Check mo muna Big ang Columbia. Usually sale ang Omniheat nila kasi di naman nag negative temp dito sa atin. Especially off season yan ngayon dahil technically summer season pa tayo.

May 10th, 2019 10:01 AM #25433GoreTex material is to keep water out, which is why it's also used to make hiking boots. It's very effective in keeping water out, but unfortunately, it also keeps water in the boots too well, kaya we have a saying in mountaineering na "no water in, no water out".
The question is how much is the person willing to spend? Columbi and North Face multilayered jackets cost no less than 10k for the cheapest.
Better still, properly-layered clothes will trap heat and minimize heat loss. Uniqlo will suffice as long as layered properly yung inner garments.

I counted 5 scratches on the paint job. Guess where they're at? They're all at the left passenger door where my youngest kid normally enters and exits. Two of them definitely belong to her. But, I have the other three scratches that are parallel to each other. I measured the intervals between them and perhaps it's just a coincidence. But, they match those of a shopping cart. I think I know who did it. My wife has a habit of using the back seat instead of the trunk to place groceries in. Then, my eldest kid loves to rush through parking lots which have an entry way that sits pretty high. She already scraped the bottom of the front bumper twice. And the car isn't even a month old.

North Face or Columbia are the best choices locally then. If you're already abroad then you have even more choices for sure.
One trick I learned when we still liked to go hiking up mountains, was to apply petroleum jelly on the parts most prone to cold. Traps the heat in.

May 10th, 2019 04:02 PM #25439You should definitely go. They planned it and for sure spent their own time, effort and money just to make you feel special before you leave.
It will be foul if you skip it and worse just for the deliberate reason of watching a movie by yourself. Just think of it this way, what if the tables turned and it is crush who skips the despedida dinner that you planned and setup?! Im sure you'll be ranting a lot about it here too. [emoji6]

May 10th, 2019 04:06 PM #25440+1 on Columbia Omni-heat. If it's the aluminum-like lining inside their jackets or thermals then they are fantastic for the cold weather. They seem to absorb your own body heat and keep it inside your clothing. I once ran with it and i was sweating inside cos of the trapped heat emitting from my body.

someones are (at last!) loudly asking, "why did they turn off the countdown timers?"
