9 is correct. Apparently PEMDAS should be PE(MD)(AS). If in the same grouping ang MD, it should be calculated from left to right. Ever since, I thought juxtaposing should have more bearing. Tricky!

That's how it's done in Algebra. Makes me wonder why MDAS is being taught in grade school.

Division is just multiplying the reciprocal of a number. Subtraction is just adding the negative of a number. That's why multiplication and division are done left to right. Same goes for addition and subtraction.

Solved it like this, multiply 2 to 1 and 2 (distribute ba tawag dito?)

Yep. You can't use conventional equation formatting on calculators. You have to tell it exactly what you think it should be.
