Man, this is really insulting for the locals.

If its world war 1 year 1927 that is after 88years. Wow!

On the contrary, it is the pride of the nation. I am happy for her and her parents.

Records are made to be broken. However, i noticed that there are multitudes who are getting Latin honors. Not sure if that's the trend in UP,the population, or the quality of the students.

When I graduated, there were only a handful with Latin honors... This was regular batch... In another school...

Historically, mas marami talaga latin honors sa UP. Although marami rin kasing graduating students in comparison to other universities.

I wonder how it is like to be retired at 60 and have children that are all established and independent. I think retirement age is the best age next to early 20s. 20s and 60s -the age where you have time, money and no responsibility

    Parents' responsibilities never end...

I was telling my wife and she's hating me for it, that I would like our kids to move out of the house as soon as they financially and emotionally can. And just visit us or call us once in a while....

Well yeah, but I meant you are done with your responsibility to provide education and raise the children until adulthood. If a parent wants to go beyond that, that is their choice. But from what I have heard from my parents and relatives, their main concern is to have the children finish school and establish themselves.

That is because she chose b.S. biology. The really smart & gifted ones go to b.s. molecular microbiology. Only the top 40 students in the country are accepted in that program. Their motto is " Eh ano kung Summa Cum Laude ka? Molecular Microbiology naman ako." (So what if you graduated Summa Cum Laude? I graduated Molecular Microbiology)

It's doable actually, just plan everything from marriage to number to kids to when to give birth. I had this in mind when i was high school and planned everything. Got married at early 20 then had 2 kids so that by the time i get in the 40s their done with a degree in college. I monitored my goal vs achieved and when i was ahead on the achieved, got a 3rd baby. I have to admit my greatest fear then was how to get the kids finish college with the annual rising cost of education. I'm glad that i have over come my goals such that my 2 daughters are done with their college degrees & working while the 3rd is now 2nd yr architecture with lots of educational funds to back her up so much so that i asked her to take a degree in medicine after completing architecture. The best part is i am now retired at less than 60.

What im trying to point out was the current problem the philippines has with china. And suddenly the top honor of the state univeristy is pure chinese by blood but filipino in nationality. And that is 88 years record broken

Biology is not an easy course. She did not graduate from fine arts, mass communication, physical education

I will show you a photo from a local daily

The chinese girl is surronded by her filipino classmates as if china is the boss.

We inherited the close family ties culture when we were colonized by Chinese. sa china nga kung mag-aasawa na si son no choice kundi titira pa rin sa magulang kahit kaya nya na tumayo sa sariling paa pero si daughter naman di kinakailangan tumira coz yung soon to be husband nya ang may gusto tumira si bride sa house ng in-laws nila. happening din ito sa ating culture lalo na yung panahon ng parents natin pero sa ngayon di na obligado pero mayron pa rin

if you don't mind my saying you're thoughts were totally absurd. let's change the picture here as you're surrounded by monkeys, literally would you say you're the boss by monkeys?

it's irrelevant to say whether she's 100% Chinese by blood or not but the fact is she graduated in UP, then I assumed she's a pusong pinoy already. concerning the phil vs china issues, pls ask all tsinoy na may pusong pinoy if china & phil got into war. sinong bansa ang kakampihan nila...... no brainer ang sagot nila ay sa pinas.

of course it's very much doable, though unlike your case where you planned every step of the way, mine happened by happenstance. had my first child at a very young age. then a second in my early 20s and before i reached 25 i had my third. i joined the government service; i was, or am, predisposed to it-- my father and grandfather were policemen. my children are all product of public school system because i couldn't afford private education (they were all "eskolar ng bayan" from high school to college). when i passed the bar i resigned from the PNP and joined with the provincial government of bohol as provincial attorney IV but after 4 years thereat i resigned and went back to the PNP thru lateral entry where i got the rank of PSINSP. i was deployed in PRO7 as Chief of the RLO7. i resigned from the pnp for the second time because i was persecuted by our director (he was later dismissed by the ombudsman because he was involved in the purchase of two choppers during the time of GMA that were said to be brand new but were already preeowned by no less than the first gentleman). then i joined the national prosecution service of the doj as prosecutor. after 20 years in government i applied for optional retirement. if life begins at 40, then i'm still very young and already a retiree. my children are already finished in their studies and are already working, they are free to leave the house anytime (well, whether we like it or not children will leave us). retiring at a "young age," i thought, would bring me freedom from hassles and everything, true, but my goodness! though golf provides a temporary respite, it's so freakin lonely. i miss the courtroom, the defense counsel, the judge. i miss the skirmishes, the heated argument with the opposing counsel. after awhile, i engaged in private practice, but it isn't my cup of tea. i'm a hopeless idealist, so here i am working again...and again for the government in another capacity. if GP will win in 2016, hopefully, i will apply in the judiciary

Half of my college classmates were Chinese. We have no issue whatsoever. We got along well and parted as buddies....
