I am used to wearing long white conductive coats in laboratories and sensitive production floors to be able to control static electricity and control dust particles.

I guess other than the purpose of distinction that they're (scientific) medical doctors,- their white coats meant that they are "clean". And so, wearing them outside of the hospital defeats the secondary purpose.

exactly, smock gowns are meant to be worn inside the hospital eg. labs, ER and clinics. often times with the conferences too.
most likely those are the residents who "flaunt" their gowns outside the hospital premises.

Exactly bro.,- and so we cringe when we see them wear these white coats outside the hospital (as again, it defeats the second purpose),- walk for a few meters and eat in a hamburger joint or go somewhere else... Our place is near the hospital and so we occasionally encounter this scenario...

And, it is something akin to wearing a shirt boldly telling everybody that "I'm A Lawyer!", or "I'm An Accountant!", or "I'm An Engineer!".... et al

^ if you're still in your 20s or 30s or early 40s, you're still young. They say life begins at 40.

Agree with Vinj. Also, opportunity seldom knocks.

Do you want to live a life of regret when you're older, is what I always ask myself when it comes to things like this hehe.

Even so, don't you want to try breaking your daily routine? What's the point sticking to doing something when you don't get anything out of it anymore.

And people will always come and go. At the end of the day, everyone goes their own way.
