I think cleaning the engine bay is a total waste of time! It's useless because no one sees it if it's clean.

In the same manner, I only see it dirty if I open the hood.

I couldn't stand it that way so I took my brushes and started cleaning it.

The attention to details is satisfied by using a small brush in these parts.

After dry cleaning it with the brushes together with the help of a vacuum cleaner, this is the result.

i seldom clean my engine bay.
and when i do, only with mildly wet vasahan.
one time, while changing oil, the oil change man 'cleaned' my engine bay. but he used a rag tainted with with oil/grease!
    highs.

That's great! You now have a shiny engine bay.

    only very temporarily.
the oil-contaminated rag lay down a layer of oil onto the engine bay surfaces.
dirt is attracted to the oily surface and sticks fast, like dirt to an oily surface.

    fully manual "trunk light". de-eveready.
    install using double-sided tape.

after 20 years, i have yet to install it.

    what i do want installed,
are a pair of bright dome lights in my wigo.
one between driver and rear passenger, and another for the rear trunk.

I wasn't done yet so I took a cleaning liquid and started applying it. Finally, I am now content with it.

I used the car after a couple days. I got lost on my way such that I ended up somewhere where the road is becoming "thinner and thinner" as I go along, until I arrived at a muddy place where I got stuck!

I couldn't imagine how dirty is the engine bay right now. And there you have it, a useless thing to do with a car. But hey! I get to compliment myself.

Archerfish, at least you were able to inspect the engine bay while cleaning.

Now time to clean it again [emoji12]

Tire washing can be tiring. Did this useless chore. Let's see how long it stays on. The dish soap brushing & rinsing took 90% of the time. Consumed about 80% of the can for 5 truck tires.[emoji4]

    in the olden days,
we would use only ordinary soap and nylon laundry brush, to bring out the tire's natural blackness.

1, to be able to tilt it and reduce air resistance when traveling at speed, and, more obviously,
    2. to get away from the camera and prying eyes of the coding TE.
