i need rubber-soled office and formal shoes.
rockport is gone from the local market.
    what to buy, now?
no to hush puppies, because of my crumbling sole experience with them. not once, not twice, but three times.
i am afraid that the others might also have crumbling sole syndrome...
i have big feet. adidas 12.

    leather-soled shoes? hmmm...

for the longest time kasi, my shoe choices have been limited by what i see in shoemart.
has anyone tried local, e.g., marikina-style shoes? made to order?

    suggestions?

Matibay talaga ang Rockport. Sawa ka na, hindi pa sira.

+1 on Rockport. Great value. You can get them on Lazada or their website.

+1 sa Rockport. Yung leathertop shoes ko tuklap na ang balat sa may heel pero solid pa rin ang sole. Heels naman ng wife ko pudpod na takong pero looks ok pa din. Very comfy pa pwede daw ilakad anywhere.

Happy to hear that they're still available elsewhere. Nawala na stall nila sa Aura dept store. Dati naghihintay din kami ng shoe sale for big discounts.

wala nako nakitang rockport in molopisya, robinsons manila, or sm city hole.
    landmark? masubukan nga.

    i like rockports.
when my pair's soles separated as a result of wear and tear, i had the cobbler re-sew them in place. i'm still using them. but they do need replacement.

i want to try local made-to-orders, but medyo mahirap yata puntahan. marikina...
    sa maynila kami.

I used to buy at the Rockport store at the ground floor of Glorietta. I wonder if it's still there. It's near the entrance of Landmark.

Had a pair of mocassins custom-made years ago as driving shoes. Nothing beats the feeling of shoes tailor-fit for your feet. Sadly the cobbler who made them passed away already.

Tried Bata shoes? Using a pair now, very comfy.

    Laki ng paa ni doc

Have you tried clarks? It's not trendy but it's super comfortable. Mga seniors in my family like it. I had Mary Janes which I wore until it fell apart. I wanted to buy the exact shoes but couldn't find it anymore.

rockport? i still got mine, more than 20 yrs na and the sole is still 80% good.
di ko alam kung available ang malaysian brand na Bonia locally... got one and felt comfortable with it.
how about a florsheim doc? i considered this as good as rockport if not better.

Wow I thought mine were the oldest ones! 14 years na yung oldest pair, albeit only used for formal occasions. I also like their boat shoes. Hindi na presentable yung mga luma ko but still comfy to this day. Pinalitan lang yung worn insoles.

Doc Marten 1461. A bit heavy, but you can get used to it. VERY comfortable if you are on your feet all day. Very durable too. I wear a US13. There's also a "lite" version, but the biggest size I've seen locally was US12, and they are narrower than the original 1461. I don't bother with the UK made version. Too expensive, and the Asian made ones just fine.

    i am considering florsheims...
but according to trenton and heath, "only the made-in-U$A imperial$ are worth buying".
    heh heh.

what i want to try, is a pair of locally-made leather shoes, kahit made to order. hirap maghanap ng big size for me. and it's not easy to go to marikina.
meron bang nandito lang sa maynila?
the besa's along taft in malate is gone.

I have a pair of black 8 holes I wear to work. Yes, a bit heavy pero ok naman siya at matibay.

Try Marquina shoes in Guijo, Makati.

I haven't tried them but they custom make.

Cole Haan is another option, medyo pricey lang.

The wingtip oxford model with rubber sole and stretch knit upper or the leather upper for rainy season.
