Correct me if I'm wrong. Just checked google and it does say that the recent models have Apple carplay and Android connectivity. If that's what you have then yes, the dongle i mentioned doesn't need a cable to the phone anymore. It makes your Android phone connect wirelessly to your HU. I'm curious about what you said though that you still use an app called Autolink? Mine doesn't use any additional app on the phone, just Android auto when I had it connected via a cable. Then when I ditched the cable for the dongle, in this case, AA Wireless placed on our Fortuner, that's when I downloaded their app for making updates and others. But it's still Android auto app that controls it. Here's how my setup looks like. That small box like thing on the left beneath the AC buttons is what gives me wireless connectivity. So my Android phone is either placed on the wireless charger below it or in my pocket.
