OT: Enrile is a brilliant guy...history sometimes has it's own way of creating an "unsung hero"...the post edsa made tabako...well, you be the judge! i cherished the genuine edsa talaga...pero i don't like what it made to JDV...the behest loans during Marcos...poocha, nakakapit kay tabako...kaya vindicated na din ako at nag aaway away sila...di sila makatulog e...nahirapan nga ako pag di makatulog dahil sa caffeine yun pa kayang on the brink of losing the fortunes you've stolen.

if cory did not become president...

then marcos would have died in office.

general ver would have then grabbed power, declared a more brutal form of martial law than what the country experienced in 1972, and the political system that we know now (as flawed as it is) would never exist. there would have been no congress nor even the supreme court. there will just be a junta of old generals who would be so paranoid that they will just make people disappear if there be any sign of resistance to their rule. and that means doom not just to the political opposition at the time, but for all politicians including those who belonged to marcos' party. generals in a junta don't like the idea of the vote, and anyone who yearns for the vote will be eliminated.

as they will need total control, enrile and gringo and his ram boys will be the first to be lined up before a firing squad. they will not tolerate any call for reforms, even if it comes from their own military. in fact, especially if it comes from within the military because they know that might will only be checked with might.

children will be educated in terms dictated by the junta. a junta needs a subservient population that will not ask when told, that will salute if not bow in obedience to authority. so like in 1972 (i was in grade 2) we all suddenly were required to have a 4-finger white side wall haircut (bye bye to my long hair!) we were made to recite daily the allegiance to the constitution (marcos' constitution that is). you will be singing "bagong lipunan" with matching march of the feet instead of "bayang magiliw" because the generals would not want you to keep in heart that "ang mamatay ng dahil sa iyo" is a good thing. no heck, they will not want you to die for your country. they want you to die for them, your allegiance will be theirs alone! and if you can not die for them then you die anyway, and that they will make sure.

even the economics of the country will not be the same as it is today. the generals can not afford to have a middle class population who will have the desire for freedom and democracy. heck, there will only be them and the very rich (who are their partners in power). the people exists only to serve their will, and everyone knows that the middle class are very unruly. so everyone else has to be poor. the poor don't fight, and even if they do they are easy to eliminate. no cars for you dear tsikot member!

you and i will not have any access to the internet, information needs to be controlled, very strictly controlled. as in myanmar (the free world i think prefer the name burma) you can not even own a cel phone without the junta's expressed permission. a sim card will be so prohibitive (in myanmar it costs US$2500) that only those who are rich and cozy to the generals will have a cel phone. so be thankful that you can blog and you can text because not too far away from where you are people are not allowed to do so.

stop blaming cory for the failures of the philippines. no it is not just the 7 coup de etats that hindered her presidency. WE all did not do enough. edsa did not fail us, WE failed edsa.

if corazon aquino did not become president....

    - We wouldn't have experienced the ultimate challenge of our patience of not having any electricity 14 hours a day. Hay sarap!

    - E di hindi sana natin natikman ang sarap ng manakawan ng Kamaganak, Inc. Ang katapat at equivalent ng mga Marcos cronies.

If Cory did not become president.......

...we would have been a Sri Lanka or a Somalia. At that point in time, Philippines are on the verge of WAR where opposing forces tried to seize the day.

Instead there was HOPE that UNITED us for a moment. But it was enough not to plunge us to the depths of ANARCHY.

And yes, EDSA did not fail us. Its just that it was not totally a revolution that put forth a complete change we do things as a nation.

if cory did not become president, marcos would have died in office and one of the people from his inner circle would taken over the government and continued the then already deep-rooted corrupt practices (lucio tan and danding would be in the top ten of the richest asian list) and we would end up in pretty much the same sorry state as we are now

actually, it would not have mattered. . .edsa 1 was a pretty good chance for us filipinos to redeem our nation and ourselves and we blew it . . .it seems like ninoy died for eventually nothing

personal opinion ko lang to ha?

If Cory did not become president, then it should be one of the Marcoses who is sitting there, or one of his cronies.
