This is what they say that MEMORY is not stored in the human brain, but in the human mind. The mind is part of that entity that gives life to this organic body of ours. Certainly, the presence of a "mind" cannot be explained by evolution of the species.

Siyanga pala, anybody knows how Lazarus died the second time around?

Mind= dynamic processes of the brain. It's not a thing. It's not separate from the brain. Scientists have long understood this and have explained how it works. Just as the brain evolves from birth to adulthood...the mind develops from simple to complex ones.

You clearly don't know the difference between the brain and the mind. People who say they are using only 10% of their "brain" must have quantified using a scientific instrument that 90% of the brain is inactive.

If there is a belief that there is a "mind" which is separate from your BRAIN CELLS, then that means there must be a Divine Being who CREATED it, because the MIND could not have possibly EVOLVED along with the organic species. See the relevance?

The mind is not just a description of how the brain works. Some psychological behaviours of humans are attributed to anomalies of the mind eventhough their brain is physiologically and functionally normal.

It's like this: Try to remember your first bike. Try to remember riding it. Your brain calls up images of whay you know you looked like at the time. Images of what you thought your bike looked like at the time, and then it manufactures a background and places everything together.

Memories are chemical. They are etched into our brain, but they are not exact. That is why you lose memories as you get older, because unless you actively (electrically) access those memories often, the matrix holding them dissolves over time, as our brain cells start dying out.

Kaya nga medyo fallible ang memory natin, because it is not precise. This is a conundrum for crime scene and disaster investigators, as eyewitnesses often remember things wrong. They incorrectly recreate memories... often wildly.

In fact, people will often not witness an event precisely as it happens. We carry around a virtual reality simulator within our heads. It helps us deal with an environment overloaded with information. As you read this, you cannot see your computer or your surroundings unless you look at them or remember to look for them in your peripheral vision. Our perception is that limited.

If something is too far beyond our experience for us to grasp, we cannot perceive it properly. Thus, some people see "ghosts" or UFOs, because an environmental stimulus overwhelms their internal virtual reality simulator. That's why horror movies can scare us so... they completely disrupt our reality at times and upset our equilibrium.

What is difficult for scientists to explore is the seat of consciousness. You can map out the electrical and chemical activity in the brain, but it's difficult to pinpoint what makes up your ego, or where your thoughts reside.

Nobody knows how much you can add or subtract to the brain while keeping the same person inside of it. Will you still be you after 40% brain damage? Would you still be you if someone actually made your brain grow? (you must be... it's much bigger than when you were a kid).

consciousness=mind...same thing....you can alter brain processes eventually altering the mind/consciousness.

hahaha .. ang serious naman ng topic dito .. naalala ko tuloy yung Miranda rights .. "whatever you say can and will be used against you" .. hanggang semantics at word usage talagang dinidikdik .. which is what you usually get if you discuss faith and religion (and politics for that matter) ..

I wonder why monkeys never attained a higher level of consciousness like us. Considering that we came from them.

Ano kaya ang explanation ni Darwin dito?

From a single cell life form to humans with superior level of consciousness than monkeys which is our ancestor.

Wow! galing ng evolution theory no? Walang kwenta..... hehehehehe....

    Sino kaya ang missing link?

It's funny a lot of people believe in this theory of evolution. I can't even be proven.

If they say we came from monkeys, how come there are still monkeys around? What’s that an anomaly somewhere during the evolutionary process? And to think that scientist claim that all of this came from a single life form, then how come we still have those single cell bacteria around us? An anomaly again, somewhere during the evolutionary process?

While the Christian people simply say we believe in God! Period!!! End of discussion. You can’t question faith can you?

Then you say the argument on faith is only true if one is Christian. Then let this scientist prove the theory of evolution then.

You still don't get it, science don’t mix with spirituality.

Don't even try to explain brain function in relation to human consciousness, because you can't.

    Peace to all.

still they believe in a god, a creator, hence creationism. so that's 4 billion.

The crux of this discussion is that evolutionists want the creationists to reason along scientific lines, and this can become extremely difficult with a belief that includes parting seas and the dead coming back to life. On the other hand, the creationists often let their convictions get in the way of them validating the scientific method. I personally subscribe to the Christian perspective of creation, though i must admit that i would be hard-pressed to defend it, at the risk of being called illogical and superstitious. Such is the nature of faith.

As for the evolution theory, well, it still can't get to clarify the jump from non-life to life. Only complicated by the fact that while all the necessary materials and conditions can be recreated in the lab, and in fact be aided by human intelligence, the creation of life even in it's simplest form remains elusive. Ah well. Maybe in time.

how would you know? nobody's been there, science na nga ang nagsabi hindi pa sila naka 1000 miles below the earth or was it 100 miles only? they just dont have the means to get there. in fact even the mighty US submarines couldn't even reach more than 1000 miles down of the Marianas trench, the deepest trench in the World. These are science facts, I believe in them. This is where science is useful. but until man reaches the core of the earth, and science proves otherwise than Satan ain't there, I will still keep an open mind

Mas gusto ko ang Evolution kasi matulin...

Ay hindi pala Car Talk ito!

I'm sitting on the fence on this one. It's not like good or bad where I can decide I'd go with the good. Not black and white, but a lot of gray areas here, lots of arguments for and against either one. And sitting on the fence doesn't alter my life significantly, and going with one side wouldn't either.

But I do believe in God and heaven so I will be sure to ask IF I get there and meet Him. And hopefully I can post my reply here.

We respect your (and other Christians') belief in creationism, but what this thread is about is providing repeatable, objective-based proof that creationism is true beyond what a holy book says.

Again, there are a lot of religions that are waaaay older than Christianity, your argument dictates that all those are false and yours is the only "true" argument around...

That's not a discussion per se...

not really sir. i'm not forcing my beliefs. I merely used Chrisitianity as basis since most of us here are Christians, hence the 12 apostles & 1 billion Christians on the planet. so that they can relate.

even *city pointed out there are others religions that believe in a god/creator, which btw, reinforced my claim - the more people believe in a creator, the more it is true.

my point is why waste your life or risk your faith believing in something that is only a theory? it's not even a fact and science is all about facts.

but of course, I can be asked: why is creationism a fact? it's not, but that's the beauty of it. you dont have to prove it. it comes from within all of us. the notion of a creator is so acceptable to our human psyche -> it's almost like knowing that your very first served Starbucks ice blended coffee drink will taste and feel good.
