Parang kahapon lang even if it was more than 30 years ago, talagang psychological scars ng bullying will forever be there.

Grade school, yes, no one to turn to, dad was always out of town, though he was a Shotokan karate expert, didn't teach me to defend myself due to mom being soft and always against street fighting, you know the feeling that you want to burst into tears in anger and being defenseless.

High school, yes, , so I joined a well-known fraternity, then they backed away , gradually.

College, wala na, but I always think about those depressing times, so I enrolled in multiple martial arts, you'll never know when you're going to need it...

Adulthood, yes, early this year. So I beat up the guy so bad police and ambulance came. No charges filed, due to the guy being a thug and having appeared in court 9 times previously for multiple assault convictions.

In hindsight, I wouldn't do that again, I'll just happily walk away from confrontation, no one wins.

Was on the receiving end of what I term as "verbal" bullying in HS. Nothing, physical, though. Doest that count?

    it counts.
it's actually, to my mind, the more dangerous form of bullying. the scars are deeper.

For my part, I've always lived by these words -- "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never break me". Come to think of it, it's more of name-calling, but I agree, sir, it can get under your skin and can be as dangerous as physical bullying.

I was bullied during grade school. I was a lanky kid and I towered over practically every student in the entire school. In retrospect, I think I was seen as sort of a challenge that needs to be conquered to mostly shorter kids and even with my non-violent nature, I was frequently provoked into fights. Even so, I can only count a few times I've been to an actual fistfight. I would say that the name-calling was more of a bummer than the actual physical abuse. Nevertheless, I survived.

The bullying tapered off in high school and had became non-existent by the time I reached sophomore high.

To be perfectly honest, I was, to a certain extent, also a bully. But it's mostly just going with the crowd of other bullies, laughing and taunting with them at the expense of whoever the victim happened to be. Though, I didn't had it in me to physically hurt anyone. Regardless, thinking about it now as an adult... damn, things were really messed up back then.

Really, bro? I never imagined that you had to deal with such when you were younger.

Oh i was constantly bullied. Suntukan etc..i retreated eventually to the library so no one could bug me there and became a bookworm.

Outside the library i tried to avoid the siga crowd.

Also no one wanted me in any of their teams during recess breaks. Bano daw ako wahahahah.

Well, the time spent in the library paid its dues later in life.

In my elementary years, I have been thru fights and I got my fair share of meetings with the guidance counsellor, not to mention the times my mom had to be called to school. High school was more timid for me with a lot of time for homework and studies but that didn't stop me from getting to a lot of trouble. I was student council president in high school and I had the students sign a petition to kick out our school director. The petition was sent to the DOST secretary. The faculty tagged me as "Gringo". Hehehehe

I was a transferee in my freshman year in high school so i became a target of sorts (plus i wasn't physically imposing pa). Good thing i was able to crack the school tennis team (the farm team nga lang) and so i became buddies w/ some of the the members of the basketball & football varsity teams of my school.

Since we had no uniform back then, Wearing the school jacket (kahit mainit hehe) became my "shield".

Pero tambay din ako ng library kasi doon lang ako nakakabasa nung mga latest (relatively) & back issues ng sports illustrated mags. I remember i even "borrowed" a special issue wherein my fave nba team - the Detroit pistons- was featured.

do what you gotta do so you can do what you wanna do

Looks like the kid has got a "Napleon" complex. Dapat putulin na ngayon yung "sungay" niya. I remember going through that kind of bullying s*#t, ang mali ko lang is I didn't stand up to them and just let it pass, but the funny thing is some of those who picked on me back then are now my friends sa FB.

Were you bullied back in grade school/high school or even college?
