Jeanne is a category 3 hurricane (sustained 115 mph winds) that will be making landfall in the Palm Beach area (40 miles north of where i live) in about 3 hours. it will hit almost exactly where Frances hit 2 weeks ago.

Jeanne is exponentially stronger than Frances (which was a cat. 2 when it hit us), but weaker than Charley and Ivan (both cat. 4). when Frances hit, my yard was damaged and trees went down, and power went off for an entire night - i am hoping we don't sustain any more damage than that tonight.

this is getting pretty frustrating, but having lived through 3 hurricanes already i'm more confident that we've done all the right things and i'm less scared of what will happen. i hope we will all be ok in the end.

    wish us luck!

thanks guys - a quick update:

well, as expected, the coastal areas and palm beach was hit the hardest. damage is comparable to Frances. Jeanne caused more damage where it hit than Frances, but since it was smaller than Frances the damage is at least less widespread.

where i live, we got off fairly easily yet again, thank god. some trees down again, and a bit of flooding and minor damage to houses in the neighborhood. the power did not go off, which is why i can still log in and get my daily tsikot.com fix right now ;)

Well, hurricane #4 is here in Florida...
