Today's "monsoon" rains break Typhoon Ondoy's record rainfall... Fortunately, the rains were spread out during the day compared to Ondoy's few hours.

MANILA, Philippines - Rainfall during the past 22 hours has surpassed the rainfall recorded during tropical storm Ondoy in 2009.

From 4:45 pm on Monday, August 6, to 3 pm Tuesday, August 7, the rain gauge at the Quezon City Polytechnic University recorded an accumulated 472 millimeters of rain, according to Dr Mahar Lagmay, executive director of the National Operational Assessment of Hazards (NOAH).

Lagmay's data is from NOAH and the state weather bureau Pagasa.

This is higher compared to the 455 mm, 24-hour accumulated rainfall during tropical storm Ondoy (international codename Ketsana) back in Sept 26, 2009, measured at the Pagasa Science Garden in Quezon City.

In an interview on ANC, the ABS-CBN News Channel, Lagmay said the data must be put into perspective.

"The accumulated rainfall, although it's higher now, is different from Ondoy because the Ondoy's accumulated rainfall, much of that was delivered over a shorter span of time, within 6 hours ... so the intensity of that rainfall then during Ondoy was higher than the intensity delivered during this rainfall."

An enhanced southwest monsoon is causing the non-stop rain pouring over large parts of Luzon, including Metro Manila, Pagasa said.

ngaun ang voting ng RH Bill, and then God Send the flood.

tama naman talaga yan eh, parusa yan sa mga pro RH Bill. who are the pro RH Bill people? they are the ones who blame the overpopulation kaya naghihirap ang tao. eh sino ba yun overpopulation, it's all of us! we are all accountable for that.

ano ang ginagawa natin? instead na akuin natin na kasalanan ng henerasyon natin dahil na din sa atin promiscuity ang paglala ngoverpopulation, we use the RH Bill as a scapegoat.

you pro RH Bill people are literally punishing/blaming the unborn and those who are still non-existing over the current problems/woes we have now, by deciding for them not to have the right to live. naiintindihan nyo ba yun? kaya tama ang stand ng Simbahan.

ang dami-dami ngaun blame ng blame ng kung sinu-sino. THIS CALAMITY HAPPENED bec. of all of US, tayo ang consumerist people, tayo ang nakakacontribute sa overpopulation and failure of systems. personally, ang dapat i-blame dito hindi naman overpopulation, ang dapat i-blame yun mga greedy fat glutton people, why? bec. they generate more garbage and consume more resource than the rest of the ordinary people!

and sino eto mga greedy fat glutton people? eto pa yun akala ko sila ang santo at mabait! wow!

parusa ng diyos sa atin 'toh! act punished so that HE won't send another flood.

    -------

what happened yesterday and today was an extraordinary formation of the clouds, talagang nag-pump sya ng tubig from the sea and literally car washed all of us. kaya hindi na-detect ng pagasa or any other meteorological agency, kasi nga pag nag-punish or kumatok ang Diyos, undetectable.

so dyan sa mga mahilig mag-pa cool na inaatake ang simbahan, pag-isipan nyo ngaun ang stand nyo, if it is still looks or sounds cool to attack our priests.

i have been praying all night na sana, wag na isa pa night na ganito, and baka ang maging scenario bukas eh lahat tayo nakakapit na lang sa punong-kahoy like those scenes in China.
good thing, the clouds above are cooperating, nag-disintegrate na ang heavy rains cloud.
