Public storm warning Signal No. 1 was raised in Isabela and Cagayan due to Tropical Storm Egay (international name Linfa), the state weather bureau said Friday.
Egay packed maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour near the center and gusts of up to 80 kph, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.
The storm was last observed 330 kilometers northeast of Virac, Catanduanes and moved northwest at 13 kph.
Moderate to heavy rains are seen within the 400 kilometer diameter of Egay.
Fisherfolk were advised by Pagasa not to venture out over the eastern seaboard of Central Luzon, seaboards of Southern Luzon and Visayas and the northern and eastern seaboards of Mindanao.
Those living in low-lying and mountainous areas of Bicol region and Samar provinces were alerted against possible flashfloods and landslides.
By Saturday morning, Egay is forecast to be 285 kilometers east northeast of Casiguran, Aurora; 160 kilometers northeast of Aparri, Cagayan by Sunday morning; 50 kilometers north of Itbayat, Batanes by Monday morning; 240 kilometers north of Itbayat by Tuesday morning and 435 kilometers north northwest of Itbayat by Wednesday morning.
