Here is your hourly tropical update.
Typhoon Ulysses continues to churn West. The center is right on Quezon, Rizal and Bulacan right now. The wind and rain stretches out through Central and Southern Luzon. I am watching another big blowup on the back side of the typhoon which is showing me that this typhoon is staying strong. Expect more heavy rains and severe winds widespread through Luzon, Bicol and Mindoro. I am seeing some convection blowing up over Mindoro now. This typhoon is a monster in size and it looks like a buzz saw. The eye is not as big now but the typhoon has expanded in size. We have a long ways to go Philippines. Lots more hours of rain and wind. I am also noticing a blow of storms all the way down to Visayas too. Be safe. Stay vigilant!

Typhoon Ulysses continues to move inland into Central Luzon. The center is just East of Tarlac City and will be moving towards there. The rain and winds are continuing to wrap around the center. I am seeing new blow of storms on the NE side of the typhoon and those storms will be moving into Northern Luzon in the next hours. Expect more rain in winds in all of Luzon, Mindoro, Bicol and Western Visayas. Be safe and stay vigilant.

The center of Typhoon Ulysses is between Tarlac City and Candelaria, Zambales and it’s moving West towards Zambales. The wind and rains are still wrapping around the center, meaning more hours of these effects until it moves towards Vietnam. It is a very large storm so the next concern is if it keeps it strengthening or not once it gets into the water again. Then we would have to worried about the back side of it. I’ll keep you updated.

What you can learn from this typhoon is that the category does not matter in a typhoon like this. It’s the size of the eye and the size of the typhoon. The Sierra Madres did nothing to this typhoon. This is why it is very important to prepare no matter what. This is a catastrophic typhoon with floods and winds. It is a long hours and a slow typhoon. I’ve tracked hurricanes for a long time and I’ve seen all kinds of them. This one is a large typhoon with lots of water and winds. Reminds me of Katrina and Charlie. I went through Charlie and it lasted many many hours. I am with you Philippines.

The center of the typhoon is over Zambales and is about to go back into the water. Severe winds and rain will continue to hit Luzon. Good news is that it’s starting to die down on the Eastern part of Luzon now. The stronger winds and rain are over Central Luzon and Western. Be safe and vigilant. You will get through this. Philippines strong!

Guys I have been tracking this thing since 630 am my time which was 830 pm PH time. I’ve watched the track. Here is the track it took or close. The problem was the size of it. The eye was massive which made the entire typhoon massive. It expanded. That kept all the wind and rain going for long hours. It was a slow typhoon because of its size. What you are getting now is the back side of the storm. This should continue through the morning for Luzon, Bicol and Mindoro. Philippines strong! Stay safe and vigilant.

Here is the newest tropical update on Ulysses.
The center of Ulysses is still moving slow just West of Zambales and because of that, you can still see the rain and winds over Luzon, Mindoro and Bicol. This will continue until Ulysses moves it’s entire body West of the Philippines and that’s going to be awhile. Hang in there guys!

Ulysses is starting to pull away and looks like it’s trying to form a eye again. It’s moving away from the Philippines, however, the back side of the storm is still moving through Luzon right now. So expect some more wind and rain through this morning. Be safe and vigilant. Let the rescue workers do their jobs. Please don’t go around debris or live wires.
