Vintage BMX - sa mga X-riders dyan

I came across this site just now while we are having our break before going out again.

The Vintage BMX Museum

Para ito sa mga mahilig mag-BMX ngayon at nung younger days na lumupipas na.

Yung dati ong BMX, parang yung P.K. Ripper na dilaw na nasa site. Brings back a lot of memories...and of accidents that happened to me while I was ripping down the streets and ramps.

uy i was a BMX rider back then 15 years ago ang lots of pounds lighter...every fiesta nakikipag race kami...
ang first bike ko is yung taiwan made na 500 pesos buo na.
then ipon para palitan ang mga parts...

batalya ko GT (buntis), PK Ripper (too light) then yung Hutch (replica)
brakes: nippon
tires: comp III
handlebars: Tork
wheels: araya

ramdam ko pa yung sakit ng likod ko nung nag crash ako nung first race ko.

Ganda. Now I know the history.

I assembled my own bike twice using my allowance. Saving here and there. And after a year and 7,500 pesos (around 1988), I got my own BMX. Pang freestyle nga lang. Not really a jumper then.

I sold it 1990 for 3k yata.

And I bought last year a 2nd hand original Haro Dave Mirra model from a friend. It's built for dirt jumping. Ok lang, I can't do tricks anymore or jump. No rotors, stepnuts, etc.

I still watch our local X-games from time to time and I'm impressed with the kids today. Ever seen an X-up with a backflip? Kaya na ng pinoy.

Ride na lang ako from time to time. I'll post some skeds on where to watch x-games here.

He he he. X-rider ka din pala Kimps.

Ako, batalla ko P.K. Ripper. Tapos, naka Arai ako na wheels (aluminum) tapos dilaw na tyres (limot ko na kung anong brand). Ang head parts ko nun, Diamondback na naka-rotor. Brake system ko eh Diacompe. Ang tagal kong pinag-ipunan ang pinangbili ko dito. Nag part-time work pa ako, makabili lang ng gamit.

Ako din, naaksidente na ilang beses. Worst was when I was bed-ridden for nearly a month due to a back-injury.

Pero, sarap 'dre! Wohoo!!!

alala ko never ko na-afford bumili ng rotor para pwede paikot-ikot yung manibela hehe...

daming sugat nadanas ko sa BMX at skateboard.

sino ba naman sa atin ang hidi nagka sugat and sumemplang because of the BMX.

I was in grade 1 when i got my first BMX, it was a silver PK ripper with drum breaks (1200.00) . It lasted me until grade 6 when i bought my first mountain bike (3600.00). Then last year i got interested in mountain biking again and assembled one with a GTS M5 frame (9500.00) however it got stolen in our house after 2 months. Now i'm using a GT bike (18500.00) ad hopefully di na cya manakaw. I got a doberman nga pala to guard my house and my bikes

dami ko pa rin peklat sa lower legs..(bandang gitna ng tuhod at paa?) ..sakit sakit pag dumulas yung paa mo at tumama yung pedal..

naalala ko lang yung batalla (kuwahara?)..tapos, (araya) rims..(shimano) seats..kalimutan ko na yung iba..(ako pa nga nagaasemble dati)..kaya kabisado ko lahat ng parts..sa may Tayuman/Pritil ako namimili ng parts..

nawala yung BMX ko..ninakaw..simula't nun, nawalan na ako ng gana mag-buo ng bike..(sa sama ng loob)..

btw, naka-mags ba yung mga bmx ninyo?..sa akin yung gawang fiber glass na five spoke..
