MANILA, Philippines – Militant transport group Piston is set to stage a transport holiday on September 19, Monday, in Metro Manila and adjacent provinces.

Piston secretary general George San Mateo said the transport strike is in protest of the P9 overpricing of the big oil firms.

San Mateo said they are disappointed with the dialogue with President Benigno Aquino III, yielding no concrete and definitive results.

Aside from the alleged overpricing of oil players, San Mateo said the strike is to call the attention of the government to scrap the oil deregulation law and the 12 percent expanded value added tax on petroleum products.

Meanwhile, moderate transport groups Fejodap and Pasang Masda will not join the transport holiday next week.

Sana huwag sila supot na half day lang ang strike, can they do it longer?

pag madaming jeep parin ang namamasada, malamang half day lang yan. kasi iisipin din nung driver sayang yung kikitain niya. dapat gawin ng LTFRB yung cancel agad franchise ng mag strike.

di naman din lahat ng PUJ sasama sa strike, lalo na yung ibang drivers na doon lang kumkuha ng income sa araw araw, di naman na ganoon maka apekto ang strike nila, dami na din mga UV express na halos yung ibang route ng jeepney meron na sila.

I thoroughly enjoyed the early afternoon drive I did from Pasig to Santa Mesa. Walang babagal bagal at haharang harang na PUJ sa daan. Madalas nakakainis din yung ibang nagmomotor but at least they don't slow down or impede traffic. With the way they pick-up and let out passengers anywhere, buses, PUJs at trikes pa din ang major cause ng traffic.
