MANILA, Philippines – Militant transport group Piston is set to stage a transport holiday on September 19, Monday, in Metro Manila and adjacent provinces.
Piston secretary general George San Mateo said the transport strike is in protest of the P9 overpricing of the big oil firms.
San Mateo said they are disappointed with the dialogue with President Benigno Aquino III, yielding no concrete and definitive results.
Aside from the alleged overpricing of oil players, San Mateo said the strike is to call the attention of the government to scrap the oil deregulation law and the 12 percent expanded value added tax on petroleum products.
Meanwhile, moderate transport groups Fejodap and Pasang Masda will not join the transport holiday next week.

kahit na mag-strike, walang mangyayari kapag may oil deregulation law pa. like 2008, wala naman nangyari. taas ng taas yung price ng petroleum products, daming strike, wala rin nangyari.

that's all they can do -- mag strike
but their power to paralyze public transport has greatly diminished
di na nila kaya i-paralyze ang MM
dami na tao di nagrerely sa PUJ
meron private transport mga tao-- single motor

tama ka uls.
last time na nag strike sila wala akong nakitang stranded.
pwede na bawasan ang volume ng mga PUV. O iencourage sila na mag strike na lang araw araw.

dati kasi kaya nila i-paralyze ang MM
kaya hanggang ngayon FEELING parin sila
year 2011 na no?
laos na sila. those PUJ groups are living in the past
kung hindi kaya ng gobyerno i-phase out ang PUJ, dahan-dahan mawawala din mga yan
market forces will eliminate them
pag pakonte ng pakonte pasahero nila dahil nagkakaroon na ng sariling sasakyan (motor, tsikot) mga tao
pag pataas ng pataas ang presyo ng piesa, diesel
pag ang cost/benefit... when it's no longer worth it for operators and drivers
dadating ang time na mawawala ang PUJ

This coming from the 'colorum group'.
What happened to the issue of Piston not being a legitimate organization registered with SEC?

September 15th, 2011 05:56 PM #9The more people get their own means of transport, the less sympathizers they get. I'm pretty sure almost all private vehicles, 2-wheel or 4-wheel, have a bone to pick with PUJ's and the way they drive around like animals.

Traffic Advisory: A group of militant LFS members are "planking" or physically blocking Espana near UST. They are doing it every hour and traffic has now reached all the way pass Welcome Rotunda. Authorities are just standing by and allowing these "pest" to do their thing. Also the usual harrassment of non-strikers are reported in Monumento and Cubao.
