Yup. However arrogant the Democrats are in pushing for a health insurance act that few people want and the government can't afford, the Republicans aren't any less reprehensible.

Well, it's not that bad compared to the other side of the pond...

"We will be the only country in the world charging for the use of the sun," says Jaume Serrasolses.

"Strange things are happening in Spain. This is one of them."

Mr Serrasolses, the secretary of an association promoting the use of solar energy, SEBA, is referring to the government's proposal for a tax solely on those who generate their own electricity.

They would pay a backup toll for the power from their solar panels, in addition to the access toll paid by everyone who consumes electricity from the conventional grid.

Hmmm... Guantanamo Bay... drone surveillance... NSA... nope... not yet. The government is severely lacking in officials with bushy moustaches.

    Speaking of the hidden powers-that-be:

And people think this US government is smart enough to have started 9/11?

NIST can't even put up a scientific explanation while actively avoiding thermate use in the investigation

Republican Party Favorability Sinks to Record Low

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- With the Republican-controlled House of Representatives engaged in a tense, government-shuttering budgetary standoff against a Democratic president and Senate, the Republican Party is now viewed favorably by 28% of Americans, down from 38% in September. This is the lowest favorable rating measured for either party since Gallup began asking this question in 1992.

The Democratic Party also has a public image problem -- although not on the same elephantine scale as that of the Republican Party -- with 43% viewing the Democratic Party favorably, down four percentage points from last month.

These findings come from a Gallup poll conducted Oct. 3-6 that followed the Oct. 1 partial government shutdown after lawmakers in Washington were unable to pass a spending plan for the federal government.

More than six in 10 Americans (62%) now view the GOP unfavorably, a record high. By comparison, nearly half of Americans (49%) view the Democratic Party unfavorably. Roughly one in four Americans see both parties unfavorably.

Favorable talaga mga citizens sa democrats because the media focuses on what the president have to say but the admin was the one putting up barricades on parks and they were the one who introduced the shut down idea. Republicans never wanted the shut down that's why they were compromising on the matter.

Republicans only had to pass a budget without dragging Obamacare into the discussion

that's all they had to do

but noooo.... they dragged Obamacare into the budget talk to force Obama to make a tough decision --- stop Obamacare or the govt doesnt get a budget

    Obama called their bluff

    no budget

    shutdown

now they're dragging Obamacare and other stuff into the debt ceiling talk to force Obama to make another tough decision --- give the Republicans what they want or the US defaults

that's how crazy the Republicans are

    now they're risking default

the shutdown is nothing compared to what will happen if the US treasury runs out of cash

US govt shutdown is a US problem

US default is a global problem

what koolaid have you been drinking? it was the GOP who threatened with and carried on with the governement shut down. why do the Dems need to renegotiate Obamacare which was passed 3 years ago and upheld last year by the supreme court? the GOP behavior is like a child throwing a temper tantrum because the can't get what they want no matter what they do.

    plus,

    source: euronews.com

US President Barack Obama has reiterated his refusal to hold talks with Republicans to end the country’s fiscal impasse until they agree to lift “threats” against the economy. He added he would be willing to negotiate on budget issues, only if Republicans agreed to re-open government and raise the debt ceiling without conditions.

Speaking in Washington the president said:“As soon as Congress votes to reopen the government, it’s also got to vote to meet our country’s commitments — pay our bills; raise the debt ceiling. Because as reckless as a government shutdown is, the economic shutdown caused by America defaulting would be dramatically worse.”

The spending and budget deadlock has partially shutdown the federal government for eight days and threatens to derail the raising of the country’s debt limit, which stands at 16.7 trillion US dollars.

John Boehner the Republican Speaker of the House of Representatives appears in no mood for compromise.“What the president said today was if there is unconditional surrender by Republicans, he’ll sit down and talk to us. That’s not the way our government works. Thanks everybody.”

Things look set to get worse before they get better with investors displaying signs of anxiety as the October 17 deadline for raising the debt ceiling looms.
childish, idiological response from Speaker of the House of Representatives. he sounds like islamic fundamentalist and insurgents from mindanao. meanwhile, 800,000 government workers are not getting paid while they sit in their offices with their paychecks.
