August 24th, 2007 03:19 PM #1Berroya: No more cops as traffic law enforcers
Wednesday, August 15, 2007
Land Transporation Office Chief Reynaldo Berroya, ordered yesterday the immediate revocation of Land Transportation Office (LTO) deputation orders issued to members of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Traffic Management Group (TMG) and other police officers in the country.
In a memorandum to LTO Regional directors and district officers nationwide, Berroya said the revocation order is based on mounting complaints of alleged extortion activities and abuses by some PNP-TMG personnel and other police officers earlier deputized by the LTO as traffic law enforcers.
He has received reports that some TMG elements are using their deputation orders as LTO enforcers in extorting money or goods from vegetable traders who frequently passing through major thoroughfares in the Central Luzon area.
“It is sad to note that these vegetable traders are working hard with their meager earning and due to the abuses and corrupt practices of these deputized agents, our people are the ones who suffer when the high price of commodities are passed on to them,” he said.
“We will not tolerate these corrupt activities,” Berroya added.
According to Berroya, in order to address these issues, he also initiated a review on policies and guidelines regarding the issuance of orders in deputizing LTO traffic enforcers.
Berroya has also ordered the investigation of deputized traffic enforcers who are “non-organic” members of the LTO for their reported involvement in nefarious activities. – Perseus Echeminada

August 24th, 2007 03:56 PM #5pansin ko nga kasi laging affected ang mga byahero ng mga kotong na yan. anyway i just want to know kung totoo yan na di na deputized ang pnp-tmg na manghuli.
lately kasi meron daw mga pnp tmg asking not only for your or/cr but also the deed of sale and BOC-CP. rampant daw ang pamamara sa mga bigbikes.
