\they want you to change cars every few years now. whereas before it can last for 10 to 20 years. same goes for appliances.[/QUOTE]
reminds me of an old piece of equipment in the lab.
we asked the manufacturer to fix it. they said that they'd rather not, because of safety issues. "if we fix that to brand new condition, we might get sued, because it won't meet the safety requirements required of today's equipment.."
Chippy in the 80's used to be really good. Salty. Tasty. Now it tastes like cardboard.
Yung dirty ice cream na cheese flavor was very good back then. Lots of cheese bits and strong cheese flavor. Ngayon malabnaw na ang lasa. Tapos halos wala kang butil ng cheese na mgangangatngat.
both consumer goods and producer goods now are not manufactured to last a lifetime. if these products did not break nor got obsolete, the manufacturers will be out of business since most consumers will hang on to what they have and the new products will not be sold. take the example of de soto cars, they thought the car built to last a lifetime but as a result, they have to close business. look at windows 8, it sure sucks but microsoft made windows 7 obsolete and they don't provide the service for it anymore. to make the economy going, new products have to be made, sold and used for only about 5 years to the average. in japan, to make the economy strong, they make their products with a life expectancy of five years (cars for example) only after you have paid for the car loan.
Stanley is the cheapest "made in US" you can buy, it is no longer made in the US. Mas maganda pa dihamak ang local Elitool than Stanley. If you want locally available US brand quality tools that are not so expensive (costs more than stanley proto though) your best bet is Buffalo, available at both Ace and Handyman and also at SBMA and Clark duty free.
everything has an ending. almost everything you buy now that are not consumables like food are made disposable. only marriage is set to be "for better or for worse" but even that is changing. nothing lasts forever, not even time
^^ di ba time ends as soon as it happens. unless you are in a black hole then time lasts forever.
Sweet Corn and Pompoms junk food - hindi na masarap like dati.
Lala Fish Crackers - I remember nung lumabas ito maalat at lasa mo talaga fish, ngayon hindi na.
Jollibee Chickenjoy - I would know kasi 2 years ago na huling kain ko nito. Lumiit talaga but thankfully ganon pa din lasa.
Heads up to everyone, ang gravy ng KFC ay 2 klase:
a. Instant Gravy na powder at tinunaw sa hot water
b. Gravy powder na niluluto.
Mas maalat at walang "essence" of chicken yang mga instant, and kapag nilabnawan pa nila, lalong olats na.
You'll taste the better KFC gravy if kabubukas pa lang ng store sa umaga dahil nagkapag prepare na sila for the day.
You'll taste the yuckier one lalo na sa mga 'peak' na stores sa malls and kapag lunch time na at mahaba na pila.

Our Sony LCD TV/home theater already has some electrical niggles (mahirap magbasa ng DVD, faulty aux in), less than 5 years old.
On the other hand, we had a Sony stereo system and TV that lasted over 2 decades, and probably would've lasted more if we didn't dispose of it.

McDo - dati malalaki talaga chicken nila
Review: 1975 Mercedes-Benz 280S | The Truth About Cars
They don’t build them like they used to. Really. I have yet to come across an car as solid as an old Mercedes, say pre-1998, before the Chrysler-DaimlerBenz AG “merger of equals.” If I had to choose one car to represent the pinnacle of—and benchmark for—Mercedes’ build quality, it would be the W116 S-Class. Hence my decision to restore a barn-found 1975 280S
