mahirap hanapin yung jethro, sa likod yun ng bahay ni FPJ. saka mahirap parking dun. also it is outdoors, di pwede sa beginners.

try mo pb dionisio, sa pat senador st along roosevelt avenue. kung galing ka ng munoz market go towards pantranco (syempre hehehe, roosevelt ave nga kasi) and pat senador will be the street on the right before the bayantel building (which is on the left). you will not miss it cause trapik dun lagi, antayan ng jeep kasi yung corner na yun. anyway turn right at pat senador and just follow that street until you reach the very end. pb dionisio target range is the lot on the right side, so turn right and honk your horn on the first gate para open ng guard. indoor shooting ito, they have 10, 15 and 20 meter ranges. walang bayad sa range officer, tip lang. range fee is i think P300 plus ammo. even if you bring in your own ammo you will pay a "corkage" for that ammo so i suggest just use the range ammo. or you can buy new shells from them and then have them load it. you keep those in their safe so next time you go firing you do not need to bring any ammo with you because you already have some in their safe. pa-reload mo nalang after, convenient pa. and they can keep track how many times the shells were reloaded also.

in both jethro and pb dionisio ranges limitted ang guns rented to 1911 .45 cal and cz75B 9mm. old units na pero well maintained naman. tagal na din ako nakapunta, maybe they have other units for rent now. if possible rent the gun you want to buy so you get a feel for it. malay mo maganda nga ang picture pero di mo naman gamay. you might end up buying a gun that you will not get used to, sayang lang.

about to buy pa lang ba? choose the type of gun you will buy the way you will choose a wife. get the gun you can hit the "bull's eye" with, not the gun that looks best. looks don't kill, porma lang yun. if you can not hit the target 10 times out of 10 tries then a gun's good looks is useless. parang babae, maganda nga e maganda lang pala, ibalik na lang sa nanay nya di ba. a gun that feels at home in your hand the first time you hold it may be the right one. it's called ergonomics, if it feels right then it is right. also do not be taken by marketing hype, like "this is the gun used by the FBI" or worse "james bond used this gun in...". pure BS, imho. it takes a lot of practice to pull the trigger of a double action gun properly, it takes little time to forget the right way. same with a "safe action" gun, the trigger pull is long and springy. if you are used to it then why not, if you don't get used to it then you end up frustrated later on, not being able to hit even the edge of the target paper. i know someone who bought a glock, several thousand rounds later he still can't hit the target paper consistently. when he switched to a single action gun he immediately consistently hit the bulls eye. he sold the glock the next day and bought himself a 1911, old technology but gets the job done. sabagay tipid sa target paper kung hindi mo tatamaan ang target hehehehehe!

some gun shops will not let you dry fire their display guns. you can never gauge the trigger pull if you can't pull it, no? if they will not let you dry fire then do not buy from them. para din kotse yan, pag ayaw ipa-test drive then hanap ka ibang dealer. and make sure you tell them so. kabwisit yang mga gun shops na ayaw pa dry fire ang binebenta nila. pwede naman lagyan ng dummy round para ma-dry fire tamad lang sila magtanggal ng lock.

pwede pa naman bumili kaya lang after ng gun ban mo na makukuha. or, if you are buying from the range itself pwede mo palagay sa safe nila ang gun mo (inside your own locked case syempre) para you do not need to bring it with you during the gun ban period. bili ka ng small metal case or small attache case na secure ang lock, don't use the plastic case that comes with the gun as madali lang buksan yun. sa pb dionisio you can go to their office at roces ave (almost right in front of the velodrome, forgot the name basta yung gamit ng religious group na blue and white ang uniform, yung sira ulong matanda na nagpa-hostage sa abu sayaff ang lider hehehehe), buy the gun there and ask them to deliver it sa pb dionisio firing range at west riverside (yung sa pat sendor na sinabi ko sa taas). then you can have the gun stored there until the ban is over and use it for firing without the hassle of bringing the gun with you.

Actually, Jethro is behind MY house, my house is behind FPJ's (It actually belongs to the Juico family now). Slight correction but close enough. It's not hard to find, From quezon ave, go down roosevelt avenue towards munoz, make a right at E. Riverside, go past Cooper St, then turn left on the next street, Jethro's will be right there on your left, you can't miss it.
