Is this really normal? Are there any psychological/scientific reasons for this?
I talk to myself all the time. It started when I started driving from coast to coast alone when I was still young and single. 3-4 days alone in a car was enough to drive me mad if I didn't talk at some point.

Then, that passed on to work. Sometimes on a tough day, I'd talk aloud. My coworker would sometimes ask, "Are you trying to talk to me?" I'd reply, "Nope. I'm just being INSANE. Lemme alone".

At home, I dare not talk to myself. With all the lewd thoughts going on in my brain...... too dangerous. Wife might hear or worse, the kid.

I think it's perfectly normal as long as you don't do it when you already have someone to talk to...

THERE is an average words per day that has to come out of our mouth and if we don't do it then we begin talking to ourselves.

It's the same thing with me, sometimes I get to work with all these Australian guys for weeks and there's not much to talk about especially most of the times I am alone in my office.

BTW, just keep it low :-)
