Phivolcs will always play it safe, they get burned in the Jan 22 eruprion. So as long as ash is spewing, small volcanic tremors detected they will not lower the alert level.

Well hopefully buhangin; although tapos na lahat ng construction dito sa may amin. Better safe than sorry, nilinis ko na kanina using pressure washer habang may tubig pa.
madali lang naman malaman yan. normal sand consistency is different from ash fall consistency. if the material clings to all windows even nearly vertical sides it's ash fall. normal sand just falls down. try to feel the material with your hands din on a small portion of the car, you'll notice the difference naman.

so they'll maintain the current alert level for quite some time
May stand-down procedure diyan. Approximately 2 weeks wait and see observation. If it continues to wane, then baba to 3, but even then the exclusion zone will only lessen by 2-4km. Volcano Island will still be off-limits. To go down to AL 2, would take a month with the Island still off-limits.

Well, scientists will always take the conservative view, especially when it comes to something like a probable volcanic eruption...but at least their opinions are not based on complete guesswork like what some politicos are doing.

    yep

and that's gonna anger residents and LGU politicians even more coz they'll see no massive eruption for weeks and months but the national gov't still won't let them to go back home

    "layman-on-the-street thinking."
and there's so many of them.
the pressure to allow the return of the native, must be tremendous.

we all know PHILVOLCS has to be cautious

but if PHILVOLCS is overly cautious it will lose credibility among the masses

i mean -- araw araw sinasabi ng PHILVOLCS pwede sumabog ang Taal so everybody's totally expecting it

everyday that passes without the expected eruption pakonte nang pakonte ang maniniwala sa PHILVOLCS

kailangan timbangin ng PHILVOLCS ang pagiging sigurista at ung pag maintain ng credibility nila

madali sana ang trabaho ng PHILVOLCS kung walang naghihintay sa go signal nila na pwede na umuwi

i mean kung sparsely populated or totally uninhabited ang area to begin with

if i-declare ng gobyerno permanent off limits ang area ok lang

walang naghihintay sa PHILVOLCS, walang political pressure on PHILVOLCS

ang problema highly populated ang area... thousands of families are affected

thousands and thousands of people waiting for PHILVOLCS to let them go back home

    yan ang problema
