6 hurt as fire rages in Quezon City commercial building

(UPDATE) SIX people have been injured and millions of pesos worth of property have been damaged in an ongoing fire in a four-story commercial building that houses luxury cars, GMA Network radio and television said Friday.

Nestor Abellera, Francis Tapiador, Jay Brian, and Lino
Aquino, mechanics of Sunshine Motors Corporation, were brought to the East Avenue Medical Center for treatment of second and third degree burns, the reports said.

Rene Tamayo, who had minor burns, was quoted in a radio dzBB report as saying that he and his four colleagues were draining the gasoline from a car when a spark from a lamp they were using ignited the gasoline, setting fire to the building.

Jerich Sy, a Chinese Volunteer of Ever Gotesco in Caloocan City, was also injured when he was accidentally sandwiched between two fire trucks. He was brought to the Capitol Medical Center for treatment, the radio report said.

Rogelio Soriano, owner of the building, was quoted as saying on television

that 20 Mercedes Benz cars were damaged, including some priced at one million pesos each.

Soriano said the cost of equipment and other materials had not been computed. The report said aside from cars, oil, gasoline, upholstery, and paint were also found inside the building.

Chief Inspector Oscar Villegas was also quoted as saying on television that the firemen could not enter the premises because of the thick smoke.

The fire marshals are confident that the fire, which started at about 11 a.m., would be put out in an hour, the report said.

sayang naman yung mga cars! Just like what happened when BLTB compound caught fire, aside from two buses, nasunog din yung mga cars ng MP Turbo, including mga hyundai na race cars ni Mike Potenciano. Meron ding Porsche and Ferrari na nasunog.

but i doubt the statement bout the value of those cars, i dont think they would cost 1M each, some of them maybe but definitely not all of them...i'd say some of those mercs costs bout 500k or lower. BUT shempre for insurance claim dpat overprice hehe
